Position Overview
As a Quality Systems Specialist at Hill’s Pet Nutrition, you will play a pivotal role in executing quality strategies that underpin the success of our Quality Department and broader organization. You will coordinate and implement processes designed to ensure food safety and product quality, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and best practices. Your keen attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and drive to go the extra mile will contribute directly to our commitment to excellence for our customers and consumers.

We are seeking an adaptable, highly motivated professional who demonstrates resilience and a positive attitude, particularly in the face of change. The ideal candidate will excel in multitasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining high standards, efficiency, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the SAP Nonconformance Monitoring System, including notification creation, assignment, and the development and execution of forward action plans.
  • Identify and address quality gaps for key systems such as Product Conformance, Raw Material & Product Traceability, Receiving, Storage & Handling, and audit processes.
  • Conduct daily product release assessments and monitor disposition in line with strict quality standards; actively manage the product hold process.
  • Perform reconciliations within the site quarantine area (daily, weekly, monthly) for all quality and food safety holds, including onsite trailer inspections, documentation maintenance, and participation in inspection/verification of material destruction on-site or externally.
  • Generate comprehensive metrics and reports for Quality KPIs, including product holds, customer complaints, non-conformances, and analytical conformance data for raw and finished goods.
  • Maintain SAP proficiency to execute consumption transactions and ensure robust traceability of raw materials and packaging through the facility and into the distribution system.
  • Support real and mock product recall procedures, encompassing SAP activities, documentation retrieval, interdepartmental communication, and coordination with corporate and distribution centers.
  • Foster and maintain effective cross-functional partnerships, supporting collaboration with stakeholders across departments and operational areas.
  • Practice and uphold full compliance with all safety and EOHS (Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety) requirements.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Quality systems.
  • Technical writing proficiency and excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with business process systems (Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or related technical fields.
  • 1 year’s experience in a quality department role within food manufacturing.
  • Auditing experience with bodies such as AIB, FDA, USDA, or SQF, and familiarity with FSPCA Preventative Controls, HACCP, and SPC.
  • Previous experience with SAP.


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $51,200 - $70,000 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
