Scope of the Role:

The Sr. Manager, Cat. Proc. PC Pkg. Material is responsible for defining and leading upstream packaging strategies (Resins and Paper) and developing our commodity risk management plans on our global commodities team. They will be setting the agenda, bringing category expertise and leading the execution of these strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead upstream packaging strategies (Resins and Paper) and integrate with commodity risk management plans

    • Produce a contract and strategy roadmap for senior leadership

    • Develop best practices to report, capture and mitigate price risk both financially and within physical contracts

    • Support the volatility risk management programs including price locking and improving forward costs transparency.

    • Lead the index strategy for the portfolio and recommend changes as appropriate

  • Map commodity footprint by increasing market intelligence, building strategic framework and long range plans

    • Analyze and develop a deep understanding of the supply markets, including external economic factors which influence those markets

    • Participates in external industry forums and seminars on an as needed basis 

    • Identify cost saving opportunities that achieve portfolio savings through a variety of studies, including benchmarking, electronic bidding process, tear-down analyses, innovation days, external research, etc.

  • Work with cross functional teams to implement sourcing strategy, risk management plan and cost saving projects following Colgate’s process & procedure

    • Set the agenda, adding capabilities and expertise to the category and leading local buying teams to meaningful changes that can be valued and operationalized

    • Work with Legal to develop & negotiate confidentiality agreements, contracts and commercial agreements.

    • Establish Direct Procurement linkage to Packaging, Technology and CIC, with clear understanding and active participation in innovation strategies and projects

  • Support the coordination of Colgate-Palmolive’s global packaging innovation and sustainability initiatives 

    • Drive compliance to short and long term goals in transparency and sustainability

  • Define packaging strategic suppliers and develop a plan bringing innovation, sustainability and operational excellence

    • Strategic supplier coordination, scorecard, investment assessments 

    • Negotiate cost models for key materials and contract manufacturers 

    • Executes effective negotiations with global suppliers

    • Leads continuous improvement programs with suppliers 

    • Drive innovation by understanding industry  landscape, material trends and supplier capabilities, actively driving SRM (supplier relationship management) with CP strategic suppliers

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor  degree

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in  Procurement, Supply Chain or R&D.

  • Strong knowledge of resin and paper packaging

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degrees such as an MBA

  • Strong aptitude for computers with experience working in SAP, Google, Excel and regulatory databases.

  • Knowledgeable in direct materials (packaging) used in consumer products 

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication, along with diplomacy and tact in interactions.

  • Analytical and Organizational Abilities: Exhibits strong analytical skills and effective organizational capabilities.

  • Independence and Team Collaboration: Capable of working independently while also possessing team-building skills; highly motivated, creative, and a self-starter.


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
