We are seeking an innovative and transformational packaging leader with a strong background in developing breakthrough long term innovations. The ability to merge commercial opportunity spaces with packaging innovation pipelines is critical. This role plays a critical role in the company strategy and will craft the packaging vision for Colgate - Palmolive and bring it to life. The position leads a team of packaging material and systems experts.
The ideal candidate needs to deeply understand the breadth of packaging technologies & development approaches. The Director, Global Packaging Research and Innovation will work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and external innovation partners around the world.
What You Will Do:
- Drive growth by delivering long term packaging innovation, deep technical progression, and strategic sustainability initiatives that are aligned with our brands and corporate objectives.
- Direct internal team and external partners to navigate the process of achieving user centric experiences, technology development, and sustainability initiatives via strategy aligned with global cross-category business needs.
- Build competitive advantage by identifying, evaluating, and championing technical breakthroughs and innovations in packaging and packaging processes.
- Develop groundbreaking processes to speed new innovation through iterative development and in market pilot evaluation.
- Develop, advocate, and advance innovation that propels and adheres to CP’s global plastics and packaging sustainability strategy
- Ensure that communication and training to other functions is done with accuracy and integrity.
- Lead process for reviewing and approving packaging sustainability claims on a global basis. Works in conjunction with Legal and Regulatory functions.
- Review packaging legal/contractual agreements for global packaging.
- Identifies outstanding external partners and consultants and sets focused goals and roadmaps
- Applies an R&D attitude, grounded in user insights, to identify and incubate packaging and sustainability innovation through proof-of-principle and technology transfer.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 15 years of working experience
- Prior experience leading and developing teams
- Experience leading an innovation pipeline, introducing new technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Industrial Design
- Master's Degree
- Experience in CPG
- Proven experience in a packaging or materials related development role
- Experience with a wide variety of packaging technologies ranging from injection molding to fiber based packaging
- Ability to use data & analytics to support perspectives
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $182.400,00 - $255.000,00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
