We are seeking a Senior Director, Global Category Packaging for various categories with a strong background in leading end to end packaging development. This role will also support regional implementations. The position reports to the VP, Global Packaging and Sustainability and directly leads a team of approximately 5 individuals based in NJ and indirectly leads a network of 60+ packaging professionals around the globe. 

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Research and Innovation team and the Divisional Packaging Leads in each Division around the world. 


What You Will Do

  • Lead Packaging Development for Colgate-Palmolive’s worldwide. This includes the conceptualization, development, qualification, delivery of new/optimized packaging structures for the categories as well as supporting divisional implementations. 
  • Partner with Global Marketing, Divisional/Subsidiary Management and packaging partners, Product Development, and Supply Chain functions to deliver the Global Packaging strategy for the category.
  • Own core innovation for the various categories and provide clear direction on category requirements to the Packaging Research & Innovation team focused on developing new to Colgate - Palmolive technologies. 
  • Centrally drive multi-divisional packaging programs to ensure packaging performance, improve delivered costs, optimize processes, and drive compliance to CP’s packaging sustainability and material safety standards
  • Bring new thinking, external perspective, and industry trends to the team regarding innovation in package structure and Omnichannel/eCommerce Retail experience with the intent that all new packaging will deliver outstanding user experience at retail and in home. 
  • Guide the overall design of packaging systems and components, ensuring defined needs for ergonomics, equity aesthetics, consumer acceptance, manufacturing capability and quality are met from the program brief through design, engineering and commercialization.
  • Coordinates and performs lab evaluations, quality control procedures and test method development.  Support Divisional needs in identifying quality defects and driving resolution.
  • Collaborates with Global Supply Chain as needed to help develop local, regional, or global contracts with suppliers or contractors.  Evaluates and coordinates supplier’s and contractor’s activities related to ongoing projects.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • At least 15 years of working experience 
  • At least 8 years of experience with a wide variety of package technologies ranging from plastics molding and bottle/dispensing technologies, flexibles, as well as fiber based packaging
  • Proven experience in introducing sustainable packaging technologies
  • Prior experience leading and developing teams

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in CPG and/or Cosmetics
  • Degree in Package Engineering or related field
  • Ability to influence and empower cross-functional partners to develop & implement programs. Can inspire and enroll teams in a vision.
  • Ability to balance multiple partners, both across functions and geographies
  • Ability to use data & analytics to support perspectives


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $182.400,00 - $255.000,00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
