Join our team by supporting the Senior Legal Director in delivering comprehensive legal guidance to our Mexican subsidiary. Be at the forefront of analyzing, interpreting, and applying Mexican regulations in collaboration with Division and Corporate Legal specialists. As a proactive company member, your role will involve crafting and executing procedures to ensure legal compliance, with a keen focus on safeguarding Colgate’s business interests. 

The ideal candidate must have solid experience working with cross-functional teams, in a diverse and multicultural environment and be willing to adopt and live the values of the Company.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a generalist, providing legal services in all company matters related to Human Resources, Supply, Regulatory, EOHS, Demand, and Procurement teams, among other key areas.

  • Supporting specific Marketing Teams in strategic projects and ongoing business needs. Drive the legal assessment to challenge competitor’s advertising & defend Colgate’s claims in challenges from competitors in collaboration with the Legal Marketing Specialists. 

  • Counsel business partners on a variety of business law issues.

  • Ensure compliance with the internal controls, statutory regulations and other formalities

  • Support contract negotiations and lead drafting of agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights.

  • Identify specific outside counsel support needed for litigations.

  • Be practical and business-minded with an ability to present a business partner with real-world, pragmatic advice.

  • Represent the company before self-regulatory bodies and certain trade associations committees, such as Amcham and Canipec.

  • Lead the legal responsibility over all labor matters.

  • Proactively participate in the Company’s Brand Protection Unit strategic initiatives and training.

  • Represent the Company before Public Entities and support the business when facing Government Agencies’ audits and inspections.

  • Support CBS Legal needs and be the main lawyer to work with the CBS Leadership team.

 

Basic requirements: 

  • Law degree from an accredited institution in Mexico with qualification to practice law

  • Proficiency in English (written & verbal)

  • 5+ years of proven experience in Mexican Corporate Law 

 

Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience within multinational corporations as a Legal Counsel.
    • Postgraduate degree or comparable legal academic qualifications, such as an LLM
