The Process Engineer will provide engineering expertise and execution for the continuous improvement of plant detergent processing; surfactant sulfonation; cleaning and sanitization; utilities management (specifically water systems); and monitor the bioburden in micro-sensative materials. Provide leadership and technology transfer on all capital projects and establish, promote and adhere to “good engineering practice” standards.
Responsibilities Include:

Execute “good engineering protocol” for capital implementation, including: evaluation and development of project scope, development of PFD’s, P&ID’s, equipment specifications, capital estimates, timelines, equipment layouts, contract bids, project spending reports, installation, start-up, and validation.

Support the operations team by providing technical expertise when developing standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for new equipment and optimizing existing operating procedures for existing systems.

Support the site’s continuous improvement through system and equipment evaluation (specifically against Colgate’s sanitary design guidelines, i.e. GL3) and fault tree analysis. Work closely with site teams to identify liquid manufacturing operating efficiency, quality control and EHS opportunities.

Benchmark against other Colgate manufacturing sites and other food and beverage companies/best practices.

Actively participate in the annual development of local capital expenditure budgets (CEB) including project estimates, savings analysis, project portfolios and presentations.Participate in the development of master siteplan to support the site’s overall strategy.

Lead facility troubleshooting for process and utility systems and equipment, provide design recommendations, conduct and evaluate downtime analysis and extend learnings to other areas of the facility and to other manufacturing sites within Colgate’s supply chain.

Develop processing equipment standards for purchases and replacement. Standards include equipment selection criteria, construction expectations, parts selection, control logic, safety features, capability (CpK) guidelines, changeover efficiency, training needs and start-up procedure.

Promote technology transfer principles; use a systematic project management approach to share technical data, performance results, product evaluations and other information completely and openly to facilitate understanding throughout the supply chain.

Utilize sound statistical tools to evaluate and identify equipment process capability and communicate the capability to key stake holders developing operating and process/formulation specifications.

Support supply chain goals through innovative input to new concepts and methods. Provide engineering knowledge supporting the development of capital estimates required to implement various site initiatives.

Utilize knowledge management tools including, after action review (AAR’s), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA’s) and conformity of production (CoP’s) to capture project/site learnings, best practices and risks.

Integrate EHS compliance protocol into every engineering project. Follow corporate EHS standards and guidelines; adhere to OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements. Continuously identify safety and environmental opportunities and develop action plans to institute change.

Integrate Colgate’s quality standards into every engineering project. Follow corporate and site quality standards and guidelines; adhere to sanitary design standards and best practices.

The process engineer is responsible for reviewing/updating documentation (SOP’s & P&ID’s) of process safety management (PSM) covered processes in accordance with both corporate and site policies and procedures.

The Process Engineer will provide feedback on overall site assessments using appropriate methods, which may include SAP EAM notifications, forward action plans/trackers, verbal and written communication.

The Process Engineer will assist during process hazard analysis (PHA's).

The Process Engineer should follow the plant training/onboarding schedule including completing a PSM 100 workshop within one calendar year from hire date.
Basic Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelors degree in engineering required (Chemical, Mechanical preferred).

4+ years of engineering experience with 2 years of manufacturing process experience preferred.

Experience in an environment that encourages employee involvement and high commitment.

Mutli-discipline experience in engineering projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in operations management specifically in cleaning & sanitization (C&S) utilizing clean in place (CIP) systems.

Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
-
Experience in systems configuration and maintenance.

Basic knowledge of SAP.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $83,200.00 - $117,500.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
