In a constantly evolving retail environment, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Customer Service & Logistics team at Colgate. In this role, you will act as a key member of our Logistics team.  

 

As the Transportation Analyst, you will be responsible for carrier metrics, analyzing freight cost data, crafting cost estimates and  balancing the freight general ledger. You'll work closely with our Third Party Logistics carrier partner, our distribution partner and our finance department. You'll contribute in month end closing and budget preparation. You’ll also ensure that we have adequate accruals to cover all freight expenses based on carrier statements.
Carrier Metrics:

  • Support Customer Service & Inventory Management  with resolution of carrier issues related to all performance criteria.
  • Supervise underperforming carriers based on monthly critical metrics with a focus on Absolute On Time.
  • Participate in all carrier meetings relating to performance and business development.  

Audit and Control:

  • Control/reconcile entries into General ledger via  electronic & manual flows between SAP/AP, Vendors and Cass freight audit company
  • Maintain carrier rate agreements
  • Reconcile customer backhaul deduction
  • Ensure freight accruals are adequate vs monthly carrier statement review 
  • Investigate suspended carrier invoices for payment approval or rejection 
  • Process weekly freight paid file for Finance to pay carriers
  • Manually process invoices and adjustments when required via Express payable
  • Use SAP and Domo reporting to support monthly freight cost analysis and Budget preparation 
  • Prepare monthly journal entries

Others:

  • Liaise with carriers to resolve issues relating to service or costs  
  • Support RFP efforts as required
  • Participate in achieving Cost Savings initiatives 
  • Participate in Special Projects and Task forces as required.
  • Liaise/coordinate logistics claim activity between Warehouse Claims Analyst
  • Lead and resolve customer Casefill/Late delivery as well as penalty/fines claims and monthly summary

 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • At least 1 year of experience in logistics operations
  • Strong analytical skills and proficient in SAP, Google Suite (in particular Google Sheets)


Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, Transportation or related field.
  • Proven strong financial and business acumen.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proven track record of being  a great teammate while also excelling in independent work.
  • Dedication to continuous improvement and innovation.
