Job Summary:

The position is responsible for developing and executing category marketing and commercial strategy for Hill’s Japan Wellness business to achieve the category’s short and long-term business and marketing objectives.

Responsibilities include developing Category brand / portfolio strategy, developing product innovations, and executing commercial initiatives by leading cross-functional teams including agency partners.  Under the direction of the Marketing Director, this position is expected to deliver category initiatives to meet business objectives.

Also, this position is expected to increase Wellness category marketing team’s capabilities with developing individual team members 

 

What you will do:

  • Lead analysis of category dynamics and business drivers with understanding pet owners insight to find key issues and feed into the category strategies and execution plans

    • Lead consumer centric category strategies / action plans development based on consumer insight / behavior.

    • Track market data and develop marketing action to enhance / recover business against annual business targets in a timely manner.

    • Review strategy / execution from market data and find learnings to draw clear indicated action for improvement.

  • Develop strategic 5 years business case by leading a multi functional team with clarifying growth drivers and investment plans for each growth tactics, i.e. new product launches, pricing measures, media plans, channel tactics.

    • Find growth drivers to hit the strat plan target together with baseline assumption.

    • Develop a consumer journey based on the deep consumer understanding, which will be a bridge to translate growth drivers into activation plans.

    • Develop a set of activation plans based on the consumer journey, which realize the potential of the growth drivers.

  • Lead and manage the development and execution of innovation projects and marketing plans working with global marketing team

    • Develop plans and get alignment from the Global marketing team on the localization of innovation projects.

    • Develop local marketing grid with aligning Global grid.

  • Develop annual Wellness category marketing target / plan to achieve annual business target of the category.

    • Based on the strategic 5 years business case, develop and align with the Japan Leadership team on Wellness category annual business target and marketing plan including A&P investment plan.

    • Develop and propose marketing gap fill action to recover business against annual category business targets in a timely manner.

  • Develop Wellness category team’s capability and grow team members as strong marketers.

    • Provide timely feedback and advice tailored to each individual’s personality and level of seniority.

    • Support setting of annual individual objectives which align with company priority and personal growth ambition.

    • Develop development and succession plan for Wellness category team members.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree and above, majoring in Marketing, or Business Administration will be a plus

  • At least 10 years of brand management and/or customer marketing in consumer goods industry

  • Managing a category or Brands as a business and brand owner, e.g. owning business KPI of Net sales / Profit and market performance KPI of share of market.

  • Key involvement in business analysis, marketing plan development, and cross-functional project management

  • Strong in project management and multi stakeholders communication

  • People manager experience is a must.

  • Native level Japanese and Business level English proficiencies.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Marketing, or Business Administration will be an advantage.

 

Travel Requirements:

Expected percentage of travel:  Up to 10%
