Job Purpose
This is a pivotal role providing you with experience working in a fast-paced, industry leading pet-food manufacturer. In this exciting and multidimensional role, requiring an omnichannel demeanour, you will be a key player driving the Digital Shelf Optimisation (DSO) objectives, in tandem with being Hill’s ‘category’ expert. You will also have the opportunity to take your expertise externally, collaborating with our customers to push the boundaries of our digital transformation, making you critical to our success in this journey both internally and externally.
This role reports into the National Sales Senior Manager - Pet and eCommerce
What you will do:
- Digital Shelf Assessment / Monitoring (50%)
- Carry out a foundational assessment in eCom using Hill’s Online Acceleration model
- Establish core reporting ways-of-working using key tools (Profitero, SW, Fox intel and DOMO)
- Supervise 6Ps +A performance and strategic gaps vs overall brand strategies
- Build out an understanding of our local Customer algorithms, offer solutions to improve Hill’s performance within these.
- Find gaps & Opportunities to optimise digital shelf.
- Be one of the key collaborators in managing the quarterly OAC/UK commercial subject area (from a UK perspective).
- Pet & eCom Channel Category & Insights Support (30%)
- In partnership with the data & analytics team, build and maintain the right internal dashboards / reporting tools, to help ‘democratise data’ and deliver significant, actionable insights to the leadership team, CD and marketing; with a particular focus on Pets at Home (PAH) and the various data sources available through our partnership.
- Act as our Category Management expert, to input into bi-monthly reviews of Pets at Home (PAH) / Pet Channel performance and feedback internally on category level R&O.
- Collaborate with PAH to feed into Range Review with recommendations as appropriate
- Partner with PAH to build out our shopper insight & understanding, using their insights dashboards and ad-hoc projects. Establish relationships with key collaborators across their business to continue to build on Hill’s credibility as a key category partner within advanced nutrition.
- Lead the retailer insights / category agenda within the bi-monthly field (COGIM) for Hill’s UK and senior team.
- Customer Relationship Enhancement (20%)
- Tailoring new product sell-in presentations to the strategies and performance of the customer(s) from a DSO perspective.
- Support Customer Development in selling plans to eCommerce retailers
- Co-leading with the Commercial team the organisation of digital commerce workshops with UK Customers (including UK Digital / OAC Digital Specilalists)
- Supports Commercial Team in developing customised shopper programs & initiatives.
- Take a lead as one of the key contacts for our customer’s ‘brand ambassadors’. Brief into these collaborators key findings and recommended actions, tracking & measuring success, in order to improve our Digital Shelf in an efficient and agile way.
Who you are:
- You have excellent communication to lead and manage ad hoc projects across the team
- Attend customer meetings as and when required
- Working cross functionally i.e. within CD, Marketing & the Hill’s OAC and promoting teamwork

- In-depth Experience of DSO tools (Profitero, Brandquad or similar)
- Experience in ‘category’ analytics, retailer KPIs, objectives & engaging x-functional retailer teams.
