The EHS Manager, Develops, modifies, and assists in the implementation of CP EHS standards, guidelines, training, and methodologies to enable the Plant to deliver consistent, outstanding EHS performance. Ensures that Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements are incorporated into daily operations, projects and programs.


Responsible for leading the Plant EHS Audit Program to ensure conformance with Colgate standards and government regulations.


Leverages data based KPI's and audit results to identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities and to reduce waste.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implement EHS management strategies, direction and policies with the goal of protecting Colgate employees and equity, regulatory compliance, reducing waste, and growing the business.
  • Provide EHS technical expertise and leadership to help the Plant deliver perfection in execution in the field
  • Investigate and assess areas in the Plant where performance is substandard and, in partnership with Plant Manager/Director, make recommendations and assist in developing actions to address.
  • Maintain and improve EHS standards and guidelines.
  • Define applicable areas of focus, timelines, resource requirements, and business partners to drive implementation of the EHS Standards.
  • In partnership with the Plant Manager/Director set KPI’S and specify the measurement, collection, and monitoring systems.
  • Maintain existing training programs and identify and develop new learning tools.
  • Lead / participate in Plant EHS audits. Provide assistance in tracking and closing of audit observations and in the use of audit software.
  • Participate in optimizing and standardizing factory designs for improved EHS performance. Communicate design requirements to assure consistent and complete Technology Transfer to the Plant.
  • Drive business issue resolution and continuous improvement. Collect key learning’s, standard methodologies, potential issues / trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure that all serious incidents and accidents are fully investigated, that lessons learned are codified and shared as appropriate and that corrective action has been taken to remediate the root causes.
  • The EHS Manager is an integral part of the site PSM Team. (Process Safety Management Team)
  • Will have primary oversight of the site PSM program including the Written Plan. The EHS manager or a designee will participate in Process Hazard Analysis, and provide oversight and regular review of Hot Work, CSE, and Safe Work practices.
  • Contractor Training and qualification will be conducted annually and records kept on file. The EHS manager will make sure and coordinate the site's eMOC process to document changes to and maintain integrity of the covered processes.
  • EHS will maintain the written Emergency Response Plan and conduct training drills on the same as needed.
  • The EHS Manager should complete a PSM 100 workshop within one calendar year from hire date.
  • Champion and act as site Sustainability Subject Matter Expert (SME) by developing and leading implementation of site level strategy and roadmaps in partnership with Colgate EHS. Provide leadership for the site's Sustainability team by working to integrate appropriate global Sustainability ambitions and targets into the site’s local planning and communications. Support the pursuit of a high-efficiency, low-impact, zero waste facility.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Safety, Environmental, Basic Sciences, or related field.
  • At least 8 years (with a Master's Degree) or 10 years (wirh a Bachelor's Degree) strong experience in an Environmental or Occupational Health & Safety field.
  • Safety management experience, influence and negotiating skills, strong communication skills, the ability to work across functions, strong leadership skills, and the ability work independently.
  • PSM/Environmental/ Sustainability experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety or Industrial Hygiene professional.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Basic Facilities Management or Engineering experience.
  • Good communication skills and proficient with google suite.
