Responsibilities:

  • Design experiments and method development using appropriate analytical techniques to research fragrance nonconformance, off odors in raw materials, personal and home care products, fragrance - base interactions, fragrance performance in novel formulations and technologies. 

  • Out of the box analysis to troubleshoot fragrance related customer complaints, manufacturing non-conformances, proof of regulatory compliance, evaluate presence of ingredients of concern.

  • Perform fragrance analysis in accordance with standard procedures to ensure quality, compliance and reformulation strategies.

  • Prepare reports and presentations to summarize fragrance research findings and project updates.

  • Support to day-to-day operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation – troubleshooting, adjustments, calibration, performance qualification, ordering supplies and consumables.

  • Olfactive fragrance evaluations to confirm fragrance quality and reformulation acceptability.

  • Support fragrance ingredient removal programs for regulatory and supply chain strategies – collaborate with Suppliers, Regulatory, Product Safety, Legal, Fragrance Development Leaders, Clinical and I&S to evaluate fragrance and product portfolio compliance, co-create reformulation strategies, align all partners globally on the implementation of compliant fragrances.

  • Collaborate in fragrance ingredients transparency initiatives and respective portfolio management

  • Partner with cross functional teams to align on project objectives and execution to drive projects to completion.

  • Maintain various databases, results reporting, and extract information from SAP.

  • Provide training for junior scientists and internship students, assist them with daily tasks when needed.

 

Required Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s or higher degree in Chemistry or Science related Major with min 5 years of fragrance/consumer goods industry experience in a global environment related to research and quality. 

  • Strong working knowledge and experience in sample preparation techniques and analytical instrumentation: GC FID, GC MS, GC SMPE, DHS, FTIR

  • Skill set in fragrance olfactive evaluations

 

Preferred Skills / Qualifications 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written/verbal) with all levels within the organization

  • Good project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize

  • Ability to initiate and maintain excellent working relationships across various departments and fragrance suppliers

  • Functional knowledge of the Fragrance & Flavor industry

  • Strong research aptitude, troubleshooting skills, problem solver, attention to detail, collaborative, creative and open minded.

This position will be based in Piscataway, NJ

Salary Range $79,000 - $116,550

Pay is based on several non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
