As the Sr. Customer Development Manager supporting the Dollar General account, you will be responsible for achieving sales goals related to volume, spending, and customer execution through strategic customer engagement and robust internal collaboration. You will develop and implement strategic business plans that demonstrate consumer insights associated with strong Colgate-Palmolive brand equities and the customer strategy as you partner with both internal and external stakeholders that maximize volume and profitability.  In this role you will work to maintain and strengthen Colgate-Palmolive’s partnership with Dollar General’s Oral Care and Personal Care buying teams, alongside harmonizing efforts with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure best in class business plan execution.

 

What you will do

  • Sales Strategy and Execution: Formulate strategies to deliver on sales volume, profitability, and customer service objectives. Leverage both internal and external insights to drive growth and effectively execute Colgate-Palmolive’s strategic plans at Dollar General.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Foster a strong relationship with Dollar General’s buying and merchandising teams. Support solutions that align with their strategic objectives while championing Colgate-Palmolive’s brand strength and consumer insights through data.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, including retail marketing, supply chain, and finance, to align on growth strategies and ensure seamless execution of business plans.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilize consumer insights and competitive activity awareness to identify growth opportunities. Interpret business trends through fact-based analysis, considering factors like brand share, pricing, and promotional effectiveness.
  • Critical Thinking and Leadership: Demonstrate critical thinking and a comprehensive understanding of business operations to manage ambiguity and drive results. Influence decision-making through negotiation, data-driven insights, and innovative thought leadership.
  • Performance Metrics and KPIs: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including volume, spending efficiency, and customer execution metrics, to assess and enhance business results.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Adapt and refine strategies in response to evolving market conditions and customer needs, drawing on insights from ROI analyses and pre/post evaluations to optimize investment strategies.

 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years in customer development, account management, or a related field, with a focus on retail or consumer goods

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong financial acumen
  • Experience pulling and using data to identify opportunities and make strategic decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Microsoft Office or Google Suite proficiency (i.e Sheets, Slides, Docs)


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $120,000.00 - $165,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
