Job Summary

 

  • Develop and drive an innovation pipeline for Hair & Scalp Care that addresses people needs, business opportunities across different types of consumers and across key regions.

  • Identify and develop new technical leads based on technological and consumer insight, and drive the research team.

  • Build a strong internal and external  cross functional network (i.e. fragrance technology, regulatory, marketing, quality, implementation & support, supply chain, technology procurement, consumer & technology insights, suppliers, research institutes).

  • Serve as a key interface among local and global partners such as Quality, Regulatory, Environmental Affairs, Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS), Legal, Supply Chain and Implementation & Support.

  • Ensure the development and continuous flow of invention records, patents, and research reports to support Colgate-Palmolive intellectual property.

  • As a leader of the Hair & Scalp Care Product Development team, the selected candidate will manage resources of his/her assigned team to deliver the grid, deliver innovation and elevate the sub-category technical fundamentals.

  • Master the Hair & Scalp care state of the art by leading patent/journal landscape, and possess a strong knowledge of competitors across key regions. In addition, the leader of Product Development must engage her/his team in market/patent/journal landscape initiatives and supplier’s development with the aim to elevate the expertise within the subcategory.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and develop the Global Product Development team.

  • Deliver assigned projects supporting products, processes, methods, and services.

  • Develop new technical leads by applying the fundamentals of technology.

  • Lead and drive the enhancement of subcategory fundamentals

  • Develop and help to execute the experimental development plan to deliver new and/or improved product bundles.

  • Communicate learning from development work via research reports, patents, presentations to internal and external business partners and senior management. 

  • Ensure assigned Quality and Environmental Affairs and Occupational Health and Safety actions and responsibilities are properly addressed and completed; investigate potential safety problems early in the research process.

  • Ensure personnel under his/her responsibility support and comply with Quality requirements, initiatives and systems; monitor progress on implementation of systems and actions; regularly supervise, coach, guide and train personnel under his/her responsibility on Quality requirements and systems. 

  • Ensure accurate documentation such as notebooks, necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), claims dossiers are maintained to support Global Regulatory registration and audits.

  • Ensure successful transfer of the leads to respective Implementation & Support teams.

  • Collaborate with the patent department to understand the current patent situation so proprietary rights and intellectual property can be protected, and to define areas where we can improve.

  • Design products that address the challenges of shipping across global borders/divisions by staying abreast of latest regulatory/legal directives.

  • Oversee team's collaboration with other functions, including Safety, Process Development & Innovation, Packaging Development, Micro, Analytical, Statistics, Technology Insights, Regulatory and other groups as needed.

  • Close collaboration with Implementation & Support to provide support for ensuring the highest marketed product quality

  • Actively participate on cross-functional task forces.

  • Monitor competitive activity and consumer trends.  

  • Participate in “on the ground” consumer observational studies.

  • Represent a Product Development view in interaction with other business partners.

  • Assign and effectively delegate work.

  • Champion new initiatives that bring meaningful innovation for people.

  • Brainstorm new ways of doing things.

  • Lead by example and demand safe behaviors and awareness, sound environmental practices and commitment to quality.

  • Develop assigned personnel and direct reports through coaching, feedback, training opportunities, etc.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


 

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor´s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related

  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Sciences, Material Science, or Biotechnology 

  • 7 Years of Consumer Goods Industry Experience 

  • 7 Years of Functional Experience. The selected candidate must show capacity to solve technical and commercial needs and possess relevant experiences for a Product Development leadership position

  •  3-5 Years of people management and project management Experience 

  • Advanced English

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree (desirable)

  • Academic or patent applications publications (desirable)

  • Demonstrate actively involvement in innovation projects

 

Skills 

  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English. The selected candidate must give technical and business presentations to CP leaders and partners. In addition, the position require the support of intellectual property through ensure the writing of invention records, report experimentations in the e-lab notebook, and review/submission of research reports

  • Strategic thinking

  • Organizational skill with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure their progress on time

  • Effective skills on data management and analysis

  • Strong knowledge in the following areas: chemistry, physical chemistry, thermodynamics of interfaces (basics in skin biology is desired but not mandatory).

  • Foster scientific curiosity within her/his team and promote a multidisciplinary culture

  • Proven leadership through fostering a culture of collaboration, listen with empathy and effective communication

  • Candidates must prove a strong business understanding in previous role and people centricity mindset

  • Candidates must show to have participated in multidisciplinary teams

  • Candidates should prove effectively mentorship of people during her/his career
