The Shift Maintenance Technician maintains equipment and facilities to operate in the safest and most productive electro-mechanical condition, implements continuous improvement and supports new system installations, production strategies and plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze condition, troubleshoot failures, repair and perform preventative/predictive maintenance on production equipment, building and utilities and all associated equipment.

  • Must observe proper Lockout/Tagout and all safety procedures as required

  • Respond to any immediate associate safety issues per work order system.

  • Initiate, plan and coordinate work performed by other associates, contractors and /or self. (unplanned, planned, changeovers etc.)

  • Prioritize and manage work assigned to ensure immediate response to emergencies, diagnose faults quickly and make immediate repairs.

  • Be proactive in technical troubleshooting the process, mechanical and electrical (power and interlock) issues which prevent meeting the shift or weekly schedules.

  • Train operators/technicians on operational set-up issues

  • Maintain functional knowledge of all site equipment

  • Ensure all work-orders are complete and accurate, including planned and unplanned assignments.

  • Maintain and improve electrical and mechanical knowledge and skills to improve customer service levels.

  • Follow regular checks and follow preventative maintenance schedules, assessing condition and ensuring compliance with prescribed schedules.

  • All associates are responsible for the safety, quality and food safety in their work area

 

Other Responsibilities:    

  • Work as a team member within the maintenance department to improve the total reliability of the plant

  • Understand maintenance principles and develop self and department work practices to promote a proactive environment

  • Understand and utilize drawings, diagrams and equipment manufactures instructions

  • Troubleshoot electrical controls, motor circuits, single and three phase electrical systems.

  • Other similar duties as assigned by manager

 

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Standing on a concrete floor 

  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform) 

  • Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55 lbs 

  • Working at heights

  • Working in confined spaces

  • Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and getting on and off frequently 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in Facility maintenance preferred

  • Good overall knowledge of plant flow, operation and utilities

  • Excellent knowledge of hand tool application, operation and repair.  Basic ability to operate machine tools

  • Good theoretical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits (AC/DC, single/three phase, low/high voltage) and all related equipment both power and logic

  • Working knowledge of Safety, Quality and Material Management Systems and procedures

  • Proficient in basic mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Basic knowledge of personal computers

  • Good problem solving and/or troubleshooting skills

  • Good communication skills, to access relevant information about equipment and provide clear information about equipment condition and status.  This would include any unscheduled downtime of equipment that hampers achieving the production schedule goals.

  • Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules 

  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines 

  • 2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline 

  • Knowledge of inventory control principles 

  • Working Knowledge of food safety, GMP and HACCP 


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $24.00 - $30.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
