The Associate Manager/Manager, Social Engagement will develop the overall domestic US social engagement strategy (where, when and how to best engage), developing and sharing best practices, defining and driving a new way of working in real time with the agency, and staying abreast of emerging social trends. This role will guide Hill’s social engagement execution, continually looking for opportunities to bring Hill’s to the next level on social media platforms and other emerging online tactics. Additionally, this role is responsible for owning and evolving new ways for Hill’s brands to engage in the right conversations at the right time, and/or create those conversations to help the brands evolve from owning “share of voice” to owning “share of hearts”.

 

The position will manage engagement and interactivity with the consumer audience and vet professional audience, and foster a positive consumer experience. The lead will work with their team to identify key brand opportunities happening in real time in the cultural sphere (i.e., news, media, online, social); quickly assess their fit for the brands, and conceptualize how to engage appropriately. As lead, the role will gain internal alignment, mobilize agency resources and develop appropriate responses and content to engage.

This role coordinates with the external inter-agency team (including PR, digital and media), as well as internal brand marketing, legal, retail marketing, eCommerce, Vet Consultation Services and Consumer Affairs to support their respective missions, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating a strong social brand.


Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead development and refinement of Hill’s domestic online engagement strategy, including establishment and evolution of KPIs, collaboration with other Mission Control teams in other organizations, and development and sharing of best practices.

• Lead collaboration with brand teams, including regular communication with domestic brand marketing team members for current knowledge of each brands’ business goals, priorities, and integrated marketing campaigns.

• Schedule and facilitate regular meetings with brand teams and engagement team

• Review real time news and events and respond as needed, in coordination with other members of engagement team, agency and brand teams.

• Responsible for execution of tone/feel/voice for Hill’s domestic brand in social activation.

• Assess where an engagement opportunity lies on the legal risk continuum, and manage responses per escalation guidelines established with Legal/Regulatory/Communications as well as routine legal reviews of planned posts.

• Develop content (photo, video, copy) for posting

• Act as point person with Red Fuse (ad agency) when requesting ad hoc creative/video/copy to quickly respond online

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Media Communications, Business, IT, or other related field

• Minimum of 5 years of consumer marketing experience  with at least 3 years in digital marketing

• Demonstrated knowledge of and success in the digital sphere (mobile, social media, online video)

 

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA in digital media communications, marketing or business

• Project management experience

• Experience managing people directly or indirectly
