Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use competencies to formulate a strategic plan to ensure maximum volume, profitability and customer service.

• Provide leadership for Direct Salesforce within the geographic team

• Directional responsibility for the combined efforts of direct reports at all accounts to deliver sales objectives on volume, spending and retail execution.

• Ensure that all Colgate-Palmolive Customer Development fundamentals are optimized.

• Responsible for developing plans to deliver designated account strategies (CP funding designation, Market all commodity volume impact, volume and level of Multi-cultural Development).

• Conduct detailed analysis of business trends in each account to include brand share, pricing, promotion levels, and trade class development.

• Ensure post-evaluation (through Direct Reports) of ALL promotions (results vs. objective, implementation accuracy, etc), supporting with qualitative commentary, communicating results to the commercial team, and using the results of promotion evaluations to refine customer tactics.

• Stimulate a team approach across all functional areas involved in developing key customers’ business.

• Leverage consumer insights associated with strong Colgate product equities to drive incremental growth.

• Recruit, train and develop team personnel so that each individual performs at their highest potential.

• Develop people to maximize career advancement while promoting and encouraging the use of technological skills.

• Develop customer investment strategy, consistent with Retail Environment strategy, brand strategy, and Shopper Insights.

• Provide substantial input in translating bottom-up brand plans into Customer/CPG targets.

• Provide CPG/Customer Insights in the development of commercial guidelines and category/brand strategies and targets.

• Lead the translation of top-down customer targets into long-term bottom-up customer plans, incorporating customers' objectives and creating joint, "win-win" customer plans while managing the P&L

• Responsible for instituting ROI mindset among the entire team to ensure focus on maximizing the productivity of investments

• Oversee the execution of 5P strategy implementation within established commercial guidelines.

• Ensure systematic post evaluation of 5P activities and develop a detailed understanding of the effectiveness of different investment levers (e.g., for promotions to calculate lift, return on investment, cannibalization effects, forward buying/pantry loading and all other relevant metrics)


Basic requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree 

• 8+ years of sales experience 

• 2+ years key account experience working with a syndicated service (Nielsen, IRI)

• Ability to travel approximately 50% of your time


Preferred requirements:

  • MBA
  • Supervisory experience
  • Wakefern (Shoprite)/ Meijer experience preferred

  • A self-starter who works effectively across functions, channels, and categories to align priorities, solve problems, optimize resources, and drive effective execution
