Colgate-Palmolive Company invites applicants to the Retail Category Development Manager - Walmart role.

 

This exciting role provides a unique opportunity to get exposure to both retail category management and shopper management skills. This role will provide the opportunity to work hand in hand with the Personal Care Customer Development Manager, as well as engage with Walmart.  This role requires someone who is organized, a self starter, has experience with project management & works well as part of a cross functional team.

 

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Act as the category expert by delivering category best practice presentations that identify category opportunities for our customers.

 

  • Partner with customer development teams to grow the categories in which Colgate-Palmolive competes.

 

  • Actively participate in team building and best practice sharing to increase team effectiveness.

 

  • Provide category management support for internal processes.

 

  • Complete customer category review process utilizing category analysis, shopper insights and available analytic tools.

 

  • Develop customer presentations, recommendations for new item introductions and plan-o-gram reviews.

 

  • Establish strong, multi-level working relationships with the assigned customers based on mutual trust and integrity.

 

  • Provide best in class Category Management results delivering fact based selling information by providing syndicated data and data analysis using Nielsen, Homescan Panel, Spectra, IRI , FeatureVision, customer shopper loyalty data and other customer point of sale results.

 

  • Demonstrate expertise in category management and efficient assortment to the customer.

 

  • Utilize shelf management software and category expertise to provide recommendations for shelf placement for new items and existing products with an objective of securing distribution/placement that is mutually beneficial for Colgate and the account.

 

  • Coordinate “Fair Share of Shelf” support. Develop plan-o-gram’s using plan-o-gram software

 

  • Determine the effectiveness of Colgate and competitive promotions through post-analysis, and make recommendations to the account.

 

  • Be proficient in interpreting shopper and consumer research to drive category solutions development with our customers.

 

  • Scorecard and monitor the execution of 5P activities in line with established objectives and guidelines.

 

This role also assumes responsibility for the Personal Care Shopper management:

 

  • Understand Shopper Trends by working with Shopper Insights/research/data to help with ideation for growth while delivering Strategic 5P Insight-based recommendations for Walmart and Colgate on Colgate Personal Care Products

 

  • Develop Selling stories that bring to life key brand strategies and engage the key shoppers

 

  • Activate Insight based Shopper Programs, including engaging with 3rd party providers & agency partners  on scope of work, development, creation & execution as well as negotiation on cost of elements

 

  • Plan Go-To-Market Strategies for New Items based on marketing objectives and provided budget that will deliver/exceed sales & share objectives using multiple tactics & touchpoints

 

  • Be assertive & diligent in monitoring execution of strategies & be quick to course correct both internally & with 3rd party agencies if required

 

  • Lead display and special pack process from creation to execution with the customer

 

 

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. Degree is required

 

  • 8+ years of consumer product sales or category management experience, or other relevant sales/marketing experience is required

 

  • At least 2 years of syndicated data analysis experience in consumer package goods industry is required

 

  • Advanced proficiency in syndicated data analysis is required (i.e. Nielsen/Nitro/Answers and Retail Link)

 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required

 

  • Proficiency in MS Word and Powerpoint is required

 

  • Consumer insight experience is preferred

 

  • Mobility throughout the United States may be required for future opportunities

 

  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time is required
