Network Engineer- LAN/WAN

 

The Network Engineer- LAN/WAN is responsible for minimizing ESC LAN downtime by maintaining adequate redundancy into the network design while ensuring the network performance is aligned with business application requirements. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for design and implementation of IT solutions with a technical hands-on approach
  • Broad knowledge of WAN/LAN, and policy-based solutions.
  • Ability to make recommendations on new technologies and the ability to deploy as a global solution
  • Strong analytical experience with monitoring tools to identify trends. Incorporate this analysis into recommendations for future enhancements to the Network design.
  • Take ownership of any P&R issues related to the Network. This includes communication and escalation of the issue, as well as thorough, follow up with the P&R team to ensure that the root cause of the issue is identified and addressed.
  • Strong design, project management, and documentation skills
  • Coordinate and Implement tasks to be completed by the Network team in the scheduled maintenance windows. Ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner and that the necessary testing is completed. Identify, support, and implement Network projects for the GIT Project Grid process that will ensure that Colgate continues to meet IT operational, P&R, and budget targets.
  • Experience working in the Cloud environment - GCP / AWS/ Azure
  • Strong communication skills and able to articulate technically on multiple IT related topics Layer 1-7
  • Update/Operate/Maintain/Support the LAN/WAN equipment, Software, Hardware, Wiring
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise on break-fix issues to ensure the team maintains agreed upon performance & reliability service levels
  • Build simulated networks in test labs to resolve highly complex problems and compatibility issues
  • Lead initiatives to improve the health and stability of the network infrastructure
  • Utilize all network management tools including real-time and trend monitoring, capacity monitoring, system configuration logs and backups, authentication database to troubleshoot network issues
  • Acts as technical liaison to Colgate’s network business partners that supply managed services and equipment for our LAN/WAN environment to ensure the integrity of the Colgate network.
  • Provide technical expertise for escalated on-call support issues as required
  • Provide consistent and frequent status updates on issues to the management team
  • Implement/Update all CR & IR requests related to LAN/WAN responsible equipment and services.

 

Preferred qualifications include:

 

  •  3+ Years of global network experience
  • Preferred (Asset): Cisco certification.
  • Maintain and operate LAN/WAN infrastructure
  • Preferred computer science degree or certificate program or associate's degree.
