Regional Manager, Latin America Treasury

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  
The Regional Manager, LATAM Treasury will be responsible for the cash and liquidity risk management, financial risk management, and financing requirements of Colgate-Palmolive.  As a developing function, the Regional Treasury Manager is expected to play a leading role in establishing new capabilities, policy development and strategies for managing funding requirements and mitigating CP’s financial risk exposures.  
Reporting to the global Director of Treasury, the Regional Treasury Manager will be responsible for the management of the regional treasury center (Front & Back office) supporting the Latin America Division.  Other specific responsibilities include: 

  • Build, retain and manage the performance of an effective treasury team.
  • Provide leadership in training and developing treasury resources.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise and operational day-to-day support.
  • Provide advice and strategic assistance to the Division/hubs/subs with regards to Treasury matters
  • Adoption of leading practices where possible and seeking ways to improve practices over time around core treasury activities e.g. regional cash management, cash investments, liquidity planning, and FX risk management.
  • Risk mitigation: evaluate and recommend FX mitigation strategies and alternative cash investment options in line with corporate policies
  • Monitor currency and macro-economic developments in the region; provide advice on country-specific banking and currency regulations
  • Manage intercompany debt obligations and lender relationships in the region, negotiate and execute credit facilities and lines of credit (external and/or internal), letters of credit, obtain parental support (guarantees vs. comfort letters), and sign intercompany loan agreements.
  • Coordinate funding of subsidiaries with large capital investments or working capital needs
  • Review subsidiary cash balances, cash forecasts prepared by Colgate Business Services (CBS) and subsidiaries, intercompany balances due to Corporate, and working capital reported at quarter-end
  • Monitor local investments of any temporary excess cash in-country
  • Establish close partnerships with the Tax department for cash pooling, cross border funding, cash repatriation, and dividend planning, and support statutory reporting.
  • Coordinate remittances: assist in obtaining/ ensure appropriate approvals (tax, legal, etc.), ensure proper flow of funds via legal structure, effect appropriate notification (i.e. timing of incoming fund for Treasury Ops), and evaluate alternative remittance strategies
  • Work with Global Treasury, Controllership, and FP&A for capital structure planning and financial reporting.
  • Maintain banking relations, review the quality of service, and provide feedback to banks
  • Manage bank accounts in the region, including responsibility for updating approved signers in SAP and bank databases, reporting, and monitoring bank fees; responsible for quarterly attestation.
  • Review KPIs and monitor performance of front and back-office activities for accuracy.
  • Perform financial analysis including lease vs buy, BASICS valuations, and project/acquisition financing 
  • Lead and oversee treasury technology implementation projects for SAP treasury including IT strategy, bank connectivity strategies (e.g. SWIFT, multi-bank reporting), vendor selections and treasury systems implementations.
  • Perform planning and reporting of regional treasury activities to the Division Finance VP and FRMC. (e.g. Cash investments, FX, Bank fee analytics)
  • Control and compliance: Ensure appropriate internal controls in processing banking and financial transactions, and comply with Corporate policies and SOX procedures.
  • Support Corporate Audit Department pre and post audits on treasury cycle
  • Back-up to the front office analyst role: execute front office activities for the LATAM Principal and subsidiaries (e.g. input of intercompany loans, FX trade requests, etc.)
  • In 2019: coordinate implementation of systems, eg, SAP FMP, BCM, SWIFT, treasury workstation


Skills / Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years treasury or relevant finance experience.
  • Self-starter, innovative, team-oriented and confident in his/her abilities. Proven ability to develop partnering relationships and provide leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. 
  • In-depth knowledge of business and corporate finance principles.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related degree.
  • MBA or Masters preferred
