Job summary

The Associate eCommerce Manager is responsible for executing Tom’s of Maine eCommerce business plan by translating corporate and brand strategies into maximum sales results, market share and financial return.  This role manages relationships between Tom’s of Maine and its ecommerce customers to ensure maximum profitability and to build growth.

Main responsibilities for this position:

  • Support the management of key accounts (Amazon, Walmart.com, and Target.com and any tasks associated with that including but not limited to: Business Planning, Item Set Up, catalog maintenance, detail page changes, forecasting/demand planning
  • Craft business reporting leveraging multiple data sources to aid in business decision making, reporting, and to glean insights for future action
  • Active trade development to penetrate the market place
  • Develop necessary Customer Marketing strategies, inclusive of consumer insights, to yield go to market bundles required to pursue new retail environments.
  • Effective management of all budgets for accounts under management.
  • Manage Tom’s planning process (CBP) for customer plans, including volume planning, GTN and other events
  • Lead the monthly CBP discipline process, including timely update & changes to the CBP plans, aligning different activities & accruals and then also coordinating with cross functional teams, including supply chain/demand planning/retail marketing for ensuring optimum supply levels
  • Coordinate the customer’s budget planning process, in coordination with CD Team leader
  • Influence the customer to grow sales, improve service and identify supply chain efficiencies by utilizing new techniques, tools, and information systems.
  • Lead development of long lead, joint, "win-win" business plans (baseline and promotions) covering sales, volume, and profitability at PPG/SKU level, and incorporating customers' objectives and strategy.
  • Conduct rigorous re-evaluation of 5P activities using what-if analysis, and draw upon other team resources (e.g. input from Finance Manager/Supply Chain Manager).
  • Present preliminary business plans to customers and refine the plans with their input. Conduct pre return on investment analysis.
  • Allocate total commercial investment for customers into 5P activities aligned with the Retail Environment/Brand Strategies.
  • Monitor compliance of 5P activity execution against established agreements/objectives and track interim performance of 5P activities to identify shortfalls/potential upsides against established objectives.
  • Identify causes of 5P activities performance, both internal and external, to Tom’s of Maine for Plan Optimization.
  • Collect information on the external environment (e.g. competitor activity) during promotion periods.
  • Conduct post evaluation analysis based on activity details and compare results with pre-evaluation analysis, reconcile any potential differences. Conduct post return on investment analysis.
  • Identify insights from post evaluation analyses and incorporate learning into future customer/Retail Environment strategy. 
  • Complete adhoc projects to support business needs

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Customer Development Management, Data Analyst, or similar background
  • 1+ years of e-commerce related experience
  • Strong PPT and Excel Skills
  • Solid understanding of P&L  impacts of business decisions
  • Proven track record of using data to drive business decisions
  • Service oriented with a track record of working well with others; an overall team player
  • Solid track record of delivering  results, moving quickly with appropriate risk-taking, and task ownership in an ambiguous environment
  • Experience constructively solving complex problems with external and internal partners

Preferred Qualification

  • Passionate about the naturals and beauty space, and ideally, familiar with Tom’s of Maine
  • MBA a plus
  • Strong preference for CPG experience
  • VBA or Macro experience a plus
