Job Summary
The Site Engineer will support all PNC site building and utility systems through participation in facility maintenance, identification and communication of best practices, and management of capital projects from conception to completion. This includes identification and validation of new technologies (e.g. renewable energy sources, robotics) to support the business as needed. This position works closely with a variety of groups to develop and execute site wide technical projects. These functions include EOHS, Maintenance, the Experimental Food Laboratory, Analytical Labs, Office, Contractors, and the Animal Colony. The Site Engineer will be expected to prepare and present progress updates on a regular basis, ensuring the project scope is being achieved.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of project management, including: initial investigation & justification, scope definition, planning, capital expenditure management, commissioning, and technology transfer as-needed
- Collaborate with Tech Services, maintenance teams, and contractors to ensure site buildings, systems, and utilities are reliable, well-maintained and serviced as per the PM schedule.
- Collaborate with and provide feedback to site maintenance supervisor on site work order scope, priority, and execution quality
- Facilitate job planning/briefing/safety review and issue safe work permits to contractors, Hill’s, and JLL maintenance staff
- Develop and maintain specifications, technical documentation, and procedures for processes and equipment which are consistent with company standards.
- Work with facilities team to manage project files, including updating utility maps, construction drawings, and CAD files
- Serve as a primary resource to the site teams for issues involving design, process changes and equipment modification by soliciting feedback and driving continuous improvement
- Participate in long-term (3+ years out) planning of capital and maintenance projects
- Engage stakeholders in design decisions to ensure projects satisfy quality, cost, service, and environmental health and safety criteria, and manage third party contractors and engineering design firms effectively.
- Coordinate site utility projects, outages, buried utility locates, and excavation work with contractors and site maintenance personnel
- Support site energy, EHS, sustainability, and quality programs through involvement in special projects, programs, regularly scheduled meetings, and ownership of certain standards.
- Act as site SME for civil and manufacturing projects, site HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, freezers, and utilities. This includes a functional knowledge of current codes and standards, and modern facilities systems and controls
- Work directly with site utility providers to execute projects, manage outages, develop preventative actions, and correct issues as they arise (e.g. intermittent power outages, inconsistent water delivery rates, etc.). This includes developing and maintaining a working relationship with key individuals for various utility companies
Education/ Experience Requirements
Basic qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or similar field

Practical working knowledge and understanding of electrical/mechanical engineering or engineering technology

5+ years’ experience working in an engineering field related to mechanical / electrical systems, facility maintenance, facility construction, or technical project management

Experience with AutoCAD / Solidworks software
-
Normal working hours are daytime M-F. However, must be available for occasional weekend / evening hours to support and manage planned project and maintenance activities.
Preferred qualifications include:
-
3+ year experience on sustainability or energy efficiency project team
-
3+ year experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) such as Johnson Controls Metasys, process control systems, or utility metering and data acquisition
-
3+ year experience in facility management or building/utility construction
-
3+ year experience in project management or leadership role on project teams
Physical Functions:
-
Grip and twist with hands through shift repairing electrical and PLC equipment and performing preventative maintenance
-
Bend at waist 90 degrees and flex at knees 120 degrees
-
Ability to work with hands overhead
-
Walk unlimited distances on hard surfaces for duration of shift
-
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
-
Wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing, eye, foot and dust protection
-
Perceive visual and audible alarms and telephones while wearing hearing protection
-
Receive and transmit information in person and by telephone communications
-
Exposure to both cold and hot work environments aligned to external temperatures as well as confined space both inside and outside the facility
-
Lift varied capacities repeatedly up to 60 pounds and push/pull carts and equipment as needed up to 500 pounds

Exposure to dry ingredients (primarily grain) producing a dusty environment (dusk mask provided)
-
Type, using a computer keyboard, intermittently for up to six hours per day
-
Exposure to both Canine and Feline pet dander

Ability to efficiently organize and maintain data in technical systems, including: SAP, Ariba, Concur, and Google

Ability to track and document multiple projects with cross-functional groups

Ability to work independently with high degree of data integrity and accuracy
Salary Range $86,400 - $120,800 USD
Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
