The Pilot Plant Quality Systems Coordinator,, is responsible for driving Quality compliance through support of the EFL (Experimental Food Laboratory) operations team execution of Quality policies and procedures. This includes laboratory testing, driving self-assessments, inspections, assessing documentation and performing releases, interpretation and trending of Quality metrics, delivering quality related training to EFL leaders/personnel, and creating, updating and providing the tools which enable EFL personnel to deliver consistent Quality performance, and be in compliance with all Quality Standards and external regulations.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
30% - Laboratory: 

  • Perform sampling/testing in alignment with the quality system program, analyze data, interpret results, and trend data for continuous improvement.  This includes but is not limited to: Aseptic sampling of product for Microbiology testing, Mycotoxin Sampling/Testing, Grinder Verification, pH Testing, NIR Analysis, Water Activity Analysis, Inspection Plans per Ingredients and Products, Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) Swabbing
  • Ensures that analytical instrumentation used for quality testing is qualified, calibrated and verified at the defined frequencies.  
  • Works with 3rd party partners to troubleshoot instrumentation in the event of an instrument failure, update software, and schedule maintenance.
  • Maintains laboratory inventory

 

25% - Perform PCQI documentation review:

  • Double batch verifications
  • Incoming quality ingredients and daily product releases
  • Monitor and perform the pre-operational and post-operational quality checks
  • Ingredient and product traceability

 

15% - Continuous Improvement:

  • Coordinate and conduct Quality and Food Safety Inspections in the EFL.  
  • Assist in establishing audit observations, Laboratory Report Investigations (LIRs) and CAPAs
  • NIR equation validation

 

10% - Training:

  • Provide Quality training for the EFL/Quality Managers/Operators. 
  • Analytical Laboratory Functions Trainer: NIR, pH, Water Activity, and Mycotoxins testing

 

10% - Collaborate with cross functional teams in the investigation of quality non-conformances within the EFL. Ensure that lessons learned are shared as appropriate and that corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.

 

10% - Participate and collaborate with cross functional teams in the Global Compliance Program, supporting Quality Standards Implementation follow up, participate in the auditing programs (internal self-assessment audits, corporate audits, FSMA readiness, etc.)

 

 

Required qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in science or a related field
  • At least 3 years of food manufacturing experience or experience with food product test instrumentation and proximate analytical procedures (examples: aseptic sampling, swabbing, testing and data interpretation.)

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Proficient in Google and Microsoft Windows work environment (i.e. Word, Google drive, Excel)
  • Proficient use of SAP
  • Proficient in minitab
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prepare and present technical summaries
  • Teamwork orientation with excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Ability to prioritize duties
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new techniques and scientific disciplines


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $62,000.00 - $84,500.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
