The Demand Services Procurement Specialist is responsible for driving sourcing activities, contracting, and risk mitigation activities that support internal partners while delivering efficiencies and optimization in the Transportation Category. The position is responsible for promoting the utilization of procurement methodology through brand, category management, and strategic sourcing activities. Primary responsibilities include supporting partners in the areas of carrier contracting and tracking, brokerage services, parcel and other Demand Services activities for Hill’s Pet Nutrition. The Demand Services Procurement Specialist will ensure that a sound sourcing process is implemented in compliance with the Global Procurement guidelines while practicing the FEED principles.


  • Develop Hill’s Freight/Transportation sourcing category management long-term strategy in alignment with Demand Services Procurement global category leaders.
  • Lead Hill’s implementation of transportation category initiatives/projects.
  • Develop cost models and drive fact based cost forecasts and budget guidance for handled spend.
  • Drive Innovation, Diversity Spend, Value and Cost Reduction initiatives for the category.
  • Manage the relationship with Hill’s transportation vendors, while leading the implementation of the identified SRM program initiatives.
  • Achieve or exceed the annual savings goals.
  • Develop, analyze and act based on Procurement key performance indicators for the category.
  • Identify potential sourcing and contracting risks, and provide direction to mitigate them.
  • Acquire periodic category market intelligence insights, and perform benchmarking with external companies.
  • Drive relevant groundbreaking/reimagined initiatives across the transportation category.
  • Manage ethical and professional relationships with vendors.
  • Leads all request for information (RFI) and request for proposals (RFP) for the transportation category, and utilization of other procurement e-tools.
  • Develop and implement strong partnerships with category partners to elevate the procurement role on delivering against business priorities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering,
  • At least 3 years of Transportation Management, Logistics Procurement, or Supply Chain experience.
  • Strong Project Management Skills, with excellent Interpersonal skills and the ability to Collaborate with internal/external partners.
  • Strong Business Analytics skills. Using business tools and information systems when solving problems and making decisions. Using data to support recommendations.
  • Strong Leadership skills and Relationship building at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong Negotiation skills. Planning and anticipation. Demonstrate Integrity in all business settings and show the ability to control emotions, mannerisms and communication style (1 year of experience in negotiation).
  • Ability to work closely with Legal team to build, negotiate and execute contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience using SAP, ARIBA.
  • FMCG experience desired.

Salary Range $96,640 - $141,435

Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
