The Hill’s Pet Nutrition team is looking for a Communications & Social Responsibility Director to create, build, execute and lead a dynamic and engaging communications strategy. This strategic, inventive and hands-on individual will craft plans and content that generate excitement about the company internally and externally and drive engagement with Veterinarians, consumers, communities and employees.
Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the company’s United States communications content strategy: develop, curate, and own the editorial calendar by crafting internal and external initiatives, campaigns, and events
  • Identify the best way to tell our stories through online, social media, email, point of purchase, mobile, video, print and in-person.
  • Manage the US company Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)/Sustainability team and communications programs to drive maximum impact, engagement and visibility.
  • Lead executive communications with senior management, including thought leadership strategy (particularly on social media), and a regular cadence of communications with employees
  • Direct crisis management and preemptive planning for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, working closely with Colgate Corporate Communications on issues management and crisis communications
  • Supervise agencies, writers, and colleagues on layered programs
  • Develop standards, processes and best practices (both human and technological) for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing, including the real-time implementation of content strategies.
  • Be a positive, trusted partner, brand ambassador and connector across the organization and extending to Veterinarians, academics, partners and Colgate colleagues.
  • Act as a company spokesperson to speak on the organization's behalf to the media. 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field required
  • 10+ years of experience in Communications, ideally in consumer oriented global companies
  • Experience with both External and Internal communications/media relations including Issues Management and Crisis Communications in a digital world
  • Outstanding writing, editing, communication and presentation skills
  • Work in a global environment
  • Strong project management experience and attention to detail
