In today's dynamic retail environment, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Marketing team at Hill's Pet Nutrition. Our highly energetic and focused Marketing Team is dedicated to driving growth for the company in this ever-changing landscape. What role will you play as a member of the Hill's-Colgate team. The associate director Insights and Analytics will partner with various cross-regional, functional groups to drive alignment on key assumptions including a competitive viewpoint. S/he will construct and implement primary research/competitive intelligence to deliver critical objective insights, anticipated market movements, and inform recommendations and plans that best position Hill’s Pet Nutrition in new and continuing markets.


Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Participate actively in global commercial development planning efforts by providing objective, in-depth analyses on current and future markets, customers, and competitors. May be an active member on various teams.

  • Provide high quality insights on the market environment for relevant disease areas based on publicly available brand and market information, non-publicly available market intelligence, and market research

  • Reinforce market research best practices – develop proposals, identify market research sources, vendor options, and methodologies that are best suited to address a business need. When appropriate, proactively challenges the design of research with internal team members and vendors to enhance strategic value.

  • Translate data and information into compelling insight stories. Frequently and proactively present research findings to promote awareness and action to drive business decisions and strategic plans.

  • Conduct commercial assessments and scenario forecasting related to neuroscience therapeutic areas. Strong ability to quantify strategy and support decisions with data.

  • Build forecast models – research assumptions, identify uncertainties, and align the team.

  • Partner with Customer Development and Marketing teams in defining, implementing and delivering analytical capabilities for growing the business.

  • Partner with Customer Development, analytics and marketing teams to develop and present comprehensive, value-driven physician/HCP-targeted marketing campaigns for strategic client-partnerships

  • Strategic thought partner and subject matter expert who will serve as the go-to for competitor insights. Frequently and proactively share knowledge of key competitors to promote awareness and readiness into business assumptions and strategic plans.

  • For all areas of this role, it is imperative to formulate an objective narrative and to communicate / adapt it for various audiences including executives.

  • Provide oversight and hands-on management to strategic deals throughout their life cycle across pre-sale, post-sale execution and measurement, and renewal stages

  • Partner with colleagues on cross-functional teams (e.g. Statistical Services, Market Research, Business Intelligence) to align marketing strategies and plans, build custom marketing solutions, and implement analytics-driven optimizations to maximize ROI and mitigate risk for Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

  • Develop sound understanding of Hill’s Pet Nutrition product portfolio, historical performance according to various therapeutic categories and audience segments, promotional impact measurement methodology, and data capabilities of various analytics partners

  • Tackle complex and ambiguous problems with a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset

  • Create recommendations and action plans for solving problems

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards


Range of Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred 

  • Master's Degree MBA and international marketing experience preferred

  • Minimum 10+ years prior experience; 4+ in CPG marketing or innovation 

  • Managing people experience


Functional Experience and Technical Skills

  • Experience conducting opportunity assessments, market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and scenario planning with an ability to develop and deliver a narrative to key stakeholders, decision makers

  • Successful track record functioning in a matrix environment and delivering results in the areas of market research, product analytics and/or forecasting, and competitive intelligence. Proven ability to lead a cross-functional discussion in an organized and thoughtful manner, systematically using supporting information and logic, building and defending cogent arguments. 

  • Prior experience interacting with senior management is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated creativity, curiosity and strategic thinking skills

  • Demonstrated passion for exploring people insights, developing solutions that meet real needs or interests

  • High level of initiative, assertiveness and self-direction

  • Able to work on multiple projects at a time while delivering strong results

  • Demonstrated experience of working across seniority levels with ease

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, ever changing environment

  • Positive attitude and resilience in the approach to new challenges and setbacks
