Job Summary:
The Regulatory Data Management & Labeling Specialist is responsible for the development of products’ copy sheets for Japan packaging artwork purposes. This person is also responsible for populating and maintaining the Hills Japan regulatory databases, as well as for the accuracy of the regulatory data. Besides responsibilities connected to the label development process, this person should help in the process of product registrations/ notifications for current and new products, maintain up-to-date registration records and provide status to businesses on a regular basis.

 

What you will do:

  • Japan formula sheet development and managment 
    • Develop Japan technical label copy (compositions & additives, analytical constituents, feeding instructions) for all Hill’s Japan products based on global technical data in SAP. 
    • Circulate  and release the Japan formula sheet. Upload the Japan label  technical data into the Share drive and distribute it. 
    • Update  and maintain the Japan technical label database with global product / assay dossiers.
    • Update the technical data upon formula changes and regulation changes.
  • Review/ update Japan regulatory data for commercial materials   
    • Ensure updated  Japanese  technical label information in the Stibo global database.
    • Review/ update Japanese technical label information on websites via PDP data system. 
    • Support Japanese Key book regulatory proof review, training slides etc,  in cooperation with PVA and Marketing.
  • Japan artwork copy review and customer support 
    • Review Japan draft label artworks,  based on technical label information.
    • Support Consumer Service / external stakeholders for the related technical information inquiries.
    • Manage regulatory Std, formats, government inspection data,  training,SOP  etc data filing
  • Registration Coordination and JPFFTA ( Japan Pet Food Fair Associations) Engagement   
    • Coordinate Japan VDEC registration dossiers, including application form, product overview, assay data,  technical evidence.  
    • Review / support annual importation product lists to JPFFTA and maintain the  database 
    • Engage in JPFFTA committee activities to protect Hill’s business. 
  • Other duties include back-up support of Senior Regulatory Manager 
    • Mainly regulatory support for R&D, Marketing, PVA, Legal. Monitor and report on relevant changes to regulations and impact for Hill’s Japan; product / claim / artwork packaging compliance approval; oversight of local regulatory over-sticker requirements on packaging.
  • Attends relevant project and process meetings as requested


Required Qualifications:

  • Science degree in scientific / technical background (nutrition/ food science, biochemistry, biology, veterinary science, chemical, pharmaceutical etc) is a plus.
  • Industry experience in similar positions like cosmetic, chemistry , and drugs. 
  • Knowledge in the areas of animal science, animal welfare, pet food, and food science, would be highly beneficial.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in related work.
  • Ability to enjoy and thrive while working independently most of the time; also be an excellent collaborative team player.  
  • Good written and verbal skills in English and Japanese.
  • Well organized,  proactive, and agile will be highly appreciated. 
  • Demonstrated understanding and or interest in product regulations .
  • Professional engagement with client contacts; willing of continous development and growth. 
     

Working Relationships:

  • Does this position supervise?: No.
  • Reports to Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager of Hill’s Japan
  • Works with Japan Marketing, Legal, PVA, global R&D in EU/ US, regional/ global RA, External agencies - for the development and proof reading of  product labels,  commercial materials etc.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $ - $ USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
