Our Brand Design Managers are responsible for the creation and management of comprehensive design, experience and innovation projects and the Visual Identities guardianship of all our brands in Europe Africa-Eurasia. They accelerate brand positioning, brand strategy, innovation pipelines and portfolio management through effective brand design eco-systems. They leverage innovation through the value of design thinking and design strategy and supervise design excellence from ideation to execution. 


Global Design is an award-winning, visionary team transforming Colgate-Palmolive through design. We take care of beloved brands such as Colgate, hello, elmex, meridol, Palmolive, Protex, Sanex, Soupline, Ajax, Hills and more, in four FMCG categories – Oral Care, Personal Care, Home Care and Pet Care. Our products are found in 75% of consumers' homes in the world. Our work as design managers ranges from creating all facets of a brand identity, from Visual Identity (Brand Look, product design, package design, digital, video, imagery) to Brand Experience (Feel, Tone of Voice, User Experience etc).


We are excited to invite applications for the position of Brand Design Manager. The Brand Design Manager reports to the Head of Design EU AEA, who reports to Global Design NY.

The primary accountabilites in this role are:

  • Lead the creation and management of comprehensive innovation, design and experience projects
  • Drive governance of all Visual Identities for our global/regional/local brands in Europe 
  • Shift from packaging design to coherent 360 design eco systems - from Look & Feel, Tone of Voice, product design, packaging design, sound design, digital design, UI/UX, advertising branding, TV branding, storytelling to equipment and activations - help our peers and partners navigating the brand through brand books, guidelines and toolkits
  • Supervise design excellence from ideation to execution, ensure seamless project transition from the design development through to design finalization including alignment on feasibility and viability, be responsible for final design recommendations, decisions and design lock, ensure brand positioning and strategy are shaped into powerful brand assets and effective brand designs which meet marketing and business objectives
  • Champion Colgate-Palmolive’s design-integrated vision and drive the Global Design Strat Plan, shift the maturity of design within the organization, integrate design into business, processes, ways of working and marketing excellence programs
  • Drive growth, brand equity, consumer centricity and digitization of our brands, identify, promote and lead self-initiated design programs generating critical business value through design for one or more divisions
  • Transform business through design thinking, design strategy, system thinking, design research, creative design proposals such as visions, scenarios, concept cars, prototypes inspiring and engaging cross-functional teams and influencing key stakeholder decisions
  • Collaborate with Insights and provide input into design research to influence learning plans, participate in research activities, effectively translate customer needs into actionable design requirements and solutions
  • Lead your Project Pipeline Management, Priority Setting, Resource Management, Capacity Planning, Budget & Timing Forecasting, Planning and Tracking, manage project timelines and design budget of each project effectively 
  • Manage resources (photographers, Illustrators, internal and external design partners), working in collaboration and in alignment with Head of Design, partner regularly with Global Design and other Design functions, R&D, business teams, achieve buy-in from top management

  • is an effective listener with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, has compelling presentation and team/workshop facilitation competencies 
  • has drive for results, is a proactive self-starter with a learning mindset, takes own initiative, works professional, responsible and independently, is mature and resilient and 
  • is able to effectively and calmly ‘juggle’ multiple assignments at one time, resiliently embracing an ambiguous work environment as an opportunity, feels comfortable with change, complexity and uncertainty, adapts easily to new situations
  • Must be willing and able to travel 10-25% of the time


The required qualifications are:

  • Design Education in Brand Design, Design Management, Communication Design, Experience Design, Graphic Design or equivalent required 
  • International, multicultural work experience within Europe, Africa-Europe
  • 8+ years professional experience in brand design (e.g. developing strategic brands, brand experiences), excellent knowledge in packaging design (hands-on experience is a plus)
  • Experience working in Corporate organizations, preferably in FMCG/CPG
  • Experience in design innovation, human-centered research, Digital design or Service design are preferred
  • Expertise in using the Adobe Creative Suite software, knowledgeable in cloud-based software e.g. Google Suite or equivalent Microsoft programs, experience with project management software (eg Workfront), Brand Asset platforms, DAM, Design-to-Artwork systems, SAP, research platforms are supportive
  • English proficiency, verbal and written (other languages like Russian, French are a plus)
