Job Summary (Purpose) :
The Category and Shopper Manager is responsible for the implementation and execution of Colgate Palmolive’s category strategy within the Independent trade. This role will be pivotal in accelerating growth, growing customer engagement and collaboration and building our brand penetration across the Awareness, Consideration, Purchase and Loyalty framework.
The category management component of the role requires strong collaboration with the National Metcash Customer Development Manager to ensure the successful implementation of ‘category first’ practices both within Colgate Palmolive as well as with our wholesale and retail partners.
Utilising strong analytical skills to gain insights, the Category and Shopper Manager must coordinate category solutions and range reviews and bring these to life in market. They must also ensure the clear communication and alignment of strategies across the broader team, driving the internal narrative.
This person will champion a growth mindset with strong ambitions to grow, underpinned by data, insights, best practice learning and collaboration.
Main Responsibilities:
- 5P Establishment & Deployment
- Lead the category review process to execute customer specific category management plans with Metcash as well as key Independent retail groups (e.g. Drakes, Ritchies, Foodland, FoodWorks, etc.)
- Appropriately tailor the 5Ps for key Independent grocery trade partners through Retail Category Development (RCD) principles, alignment with customer strategies and customer-specific shopper insights
- Complete and share pre and post-evaluation of promotional and in-store shopper events
- Planogram development using the JDA Space Planning tool
- Effectively execute key category shopper engagement programs in collaboration with key retail partners
- Commercial and Business Planning Process
- Hero the customer perspective on commercial strategy at commercial and diagnostics meetings
- Identify growth opportunities within customer by assessing customer performance for Colgate and Total Category vs. benchmarks
- Developing and managing Shopper budget to support projects that deliver against CP and category KPI’s
- Share knowledge, learning and insights both internally and externally to enhance category understanding & expertise of others (customers, retailers, accounts team, field team, etc.)
Required (Education, Knowledge required, Language skills, etc)
- Bachelor's Degree required
- At least 3 years of experience in category/customer/account roles or adjacent experiences required
- Exceptional communication skills, both written & verbal
- Exceptional planning and prioritisation skills
- Proven ability to be self managed and motivated and work effectively remotely
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working with a syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, Quantium) preferred
- Experience working in consumer product goods preferred
- Microsoft Office or Google Suite proficiency (i.e, Sheets, Slides, Docs) preferred
- Previous experience in Australian Independent Grocery channel (i.e. Metcash, Drakes, Foodland, FoodWorks, Ritchies, etc.) is highly preferred
