Job Purpose

  • In today’s dynamic retail environment, it is an exciting time to be part of the Customer Development team at Colgate-Palmolive.  Our energetic team is dedicated to driving growth for our customers and for our own business in this ever changing Omnichannel marketplace. 
  • As part of the Retail Category Development team, you will be responsible for leading the business relationship across a portfolio of key customers. You will be recognised as the impartial category expert,  creating & delivering compelling stories that provide insights into how shopper behaviours are influencing our categories.  You will leverage your network of insights and resources to  highlight opportunities and deliver initiatives that will drive Omnichannel category & Colgate-Palmolive brand growth.
  • As a pro-active and highly motivated individual, you will forge meaningful customer relationships based on thought leadership. You will collaborate widely through the use of category intelligence, shopper-centric insights and a sound understanding of the business challenges in order to deliver an outstanding category service.

  • You are a shopper champion – you put the shopper at the heart of everything you do and maximise category sales potential through a shopper-centric approach.
  • You are a deliverer of results – your track record demonstrates your ability to deliver category & customer business plans that benefit both Colgate-Palmolive and our customers.
  • Conduct regular omnichannel category assessments and environmental scans that help Colgate & our customers fully understand the category challenges and opportunities.
  • Proactively identify commercial opportunities and work with Customer Development & Consumer Experience teams to implement solid 5P recommendations & tactics that drive growth both in brick and mortar stores and online.
  • Build & develop independent relationships with customers, establishing Colgate-Palmolive as the go to key partner for objective insights, range reviews, category planning and visions.
  • Work cross functionally to develop and externalise category trade stories for Dental & Washing & Bathing to unlock category growth for Colgate and our retail partners.  Provide key input into the direction & implementation of innovation.
  • Adapt, implement & champion ongoing dialogue & execution of our Category Growth Drivers with customers. Develop customer specific growth plans internally and externally.
  • Share category expertise across the wider business community to deepen customer & category understanding.



Personal Attributes


  • Full competency in a wide range of data sources (Nielsen & Kantar plus loyalty card data).
  • Working knowledge of UK retailers
  • Commercial understanding
  • 4+ years category management experience (or other relevant experience)


  • Bachelor’s degree (desired)
  • Competent in the use of space planning tools.
  • Google Suite proficiency
  • FMCG environment experience
