The Automation Manager / Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of automation and smart technologies within our manufacturing facilities across the globe. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of automation systems, smart technologies, robotics, control systems, and process optimization to ensure efficient, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of automation and smart technology strategies, ensuring alignment with overall manufacturing goals.

  • Design, program, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, smart sensors, and other control systems for plant equipment and processes.

  • Manage the installation, calibration, and maintenance of automation and smart technology equipment, sensors, and systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality control, and maintenance to ensure seamless integration of automation and smart technologies.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation, smart systems, robotic systems, and control systems to minimize downtime.

  • Conduct regular assessments of automation and smart technology systems to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary upgrades.

  • Provide training and support to plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of automation and smart technology equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards in all automation and smart technology activities.

  • Develop and manage budgets for automation and smart technology projects, ensuring cost-efficiency and timeliness.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in plant automation and smart technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant automation, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Proficiency in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, robotic systems, and smart sensors.

  • Strong understanding of industrial networks, control systems, smart technologies, and instrumentation.

  • Solid project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams.

  • Knowledge of relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO).

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with smart technologies, Industry 4.0, IoT, AI, and Big Data analytics.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Leadership: Ability to guide, mentor, and inspire team members and foster a collaborative working environment.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
