This position is located in San José Iturbide, Gto. 45 minutes from Querétaro and 2 hours from Guanajuato. 

Support the Legal Director in providing general legal advice to the subsidiary. Proactively conduct analysis, interpretation and correct application of the Mexican regulations, partnering with Division and Corporate Legal specialist lawyers. Be an active member of the Demand and Mission Hills Staff Meetings to provide direct legal oversight. Developing, implementing and executing procedures that allow the correct application of the law with special attention regarding the impact over Colgate’s business.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

● Provide legal services in matters related to Human Resources, Supply, Regulatory, EOHS, Demand and Procurement teams.
● Supporting the local Personal and Home Care Marketing Teams in a strategic projects and ongoing business needs.
● Drive the legal assessment to challenge competitor’s advertising & defend Colgate’s claims in challenges from competitors.
● Counsel business partners on a variety of business law issues.
● Ensure compliance with the internal controls, statutory regulations and other formalities.
● Support contract negotiations and lead drafting of agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal right.
● Identify specific outside counsel support needed for litigations.
● Practical and business-minded with an ability to present a business partner with real-world, pragmatic advice.
● Represent the company before self-regulatory body and certain trade associations committees, such as Conar, Amcham and Canipec.
● Lead the legal responsibility over all labor matters.
● Proactively participate in the Company’s Brand Protection Unit strategic initiatives and training.
● Represent the Company before Public Entities and support the business when facing Government Agencies audits and inspections.

Requirements

● Graduated of an accredited Mexican Law school, duly admitted to practice law in Mexico
● Fluent in English
● 5-years’ experience in Mexican Corporate Law

Preferred qualifications include:
● Previous working experience as a Legal Counsel on multinational corporations
● A degree or other academic qualifications, such as LLM in a Mexican Law school

Travel Requirements

Expected percentage of travel: 30%
