In today's dynamic retail environment, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Customer Development team at Hill's Pet Nutrition. Our highly energetic and focused Customer Development Team is dedicated to driving growth for Hill's Pet Nutrition and for Petco in this ever-changing landscape. What role will you play as a member of the Hill's Customer Development organization? As the Category Development Manager, you will create and share compelling stories with Customers that provide insight to how shopper behaviors are influencing our categories. You will serve as the category expert by delivering insight-based engaging category presentations and highlighting opportunities. You will establish a solid customer relationship based on building thought leadership. As the category expert, you'll scorecard and monitor the execution of 6Ps to ensure success in all that you do. Utilizing category analysis, shopper insights and other available analytic tools you will apply your expertise to drive solutions for Hill's and our customers.

What you will do: 

 

  • You are a collaborator- You will build key partnerships as a consultant to the customer that thrive on mutual trust and integrity in working relationships. Additionally you work cross-functionally across the Hill's organization. ▪ Leads Category Management partnerships by providing insights and solutions to drive the category. ▪ Translate insights and trends into action, creating selling stories in order to elevate customer engagement, identify omni-growth opportunities and areas of risk. ▪ Provide unbiased recommendations that are mutually beneficial to the category and Hill’s ▪ Utilize Nielsen Connect & analyze all available data sources to identify category & omni growth opportunities and build supporting business cases to influence customer decisions. ▪ Lead category review process and presentations, including using external & internal data sources aligned to Customer and Hill’s timings.
  • You are a storyteller- The ability to interpret and communicate shopper & consumer data and effectively integrate them to tell fact-based stories to drive category solutions is essential so we can thrive and win. ▪ Develop optimal product assortment, placement & planograms for key account, incorporating new products. Use shelf management software to produce planograms and make recommendations for portfolio. ▪ Lead customer category review process, leveraging category analysis, competitive insights and customer business performance to accelerate omni growth and Hill’s consumption for key account. ▪ Create, maintain and publish category performance scorecards, including analysis of external and internal sales & profitability data to identify opportunities, gaps, best practices, competitive strategy, and product placement execution.
  • You are a leader- You take initiative, influencing the category & brand growth plans through thoughtful analysis, collaboration and thought leadership. ▪ Build relationships across CDO, Marketing, Insights/Analytics & key customer contacts to influence, collaborate and partner in the spirit of driving mutually beneficial growth, aligning priorities, driving effective execution, optimizing resources and solving problems. ▪ Collaborate with Hill’s Retail Category Development team to ensure team is informed of & working with the most up-to-date brand/category details.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years of related CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) experience
  • Curious with strong analytical skills, able to use data & analytics to develop commercial recommendations that result in growth
  • Skilled communicator with excellent business presentation abilities
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the category, channel, business & customers and growth drivers as well as how to use data and analytics to identify opportunities and gaps
  • Proficient computer skills, including intermediate level (or greater) experience with Google Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years Category Management, Insights or Business Analytics experience
  • Experience working with a syndicated service (Nielsen, IRI) account
  • Customer Engagement (call on a customer and present to them).
  • Project management

Salary Range $96,040 - $141,435 USD

 

Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
