As the Category Manager for Walmart, you will create and share compelling stories with Customers that provide insight to how shopper behaviors are influencing our categories. You will serve as the category expert by delivering insight-based engaging category presentations and highlighting opportunities. You will establish a solid customer relationship based on building thought leadership. As the category expert, you will scorecard and monitor the effectiveness of the 5Ps to ensure success in all that you do. This work includes new product introductions, pricing analyses, seasonal reviews and programs, promotional planning and evaluation, consumer usage analyses, and understanding the impact of assortment changes on category and brand growth. Utilizing category analysis, shopper insights and other available analytic tools you will apply your expertise to drive solutions for Colgate and our customers.
You will drive the discovery and use of consumer, customer, and market insights for use in building strategies across the Customer Development Team, category and planning, as well as customer communications, and initiatives that enhance brand and category performance.
This is a hybrid role based out of Rogers, AR (Monday - Thursday in office).
Responsibilities:
- Prioritize and represent shopper needs in all strategic and tactical decision-making.
- Utilize customer-specific shopper behavior data and insights to develop and deliver actionable recommendations that drive category and Colgate solutions.
- Integrate and analyze multiple data sources, including shopper data, proprietary insights, and Point-of-Sale (POS) data, to formulate robust, customer-specific recommendations.
- Effectively communicate complex data, insights, and shopper behavior findings through compelling, fact-based narratives to influence customer and internal stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted consultant to the customer, building strong, collaborative partnerships founded on mutual trust and integrity.
Collaborate effectively with internal Colgate-Palmolive teams and external broker partners to execute strategies and achieve shared business objectives. - Maintain a high level of curiosity to proactively seek out and identify opportunities for improvement, analyze results to determine the root cause of performance, and guide the team with data-driven insights.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years of consumer product sales or category management experience, or other relevant sales/marketing experience
- 2+ years of experience analyzing syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI)
- Experience working with retailer POS data required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets & Slides is required
- Availability to travel 25% of the time
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with customer Shopper Behavior Data (Scintilla, Dunhumby, ExtraCare, 1010, etc.)
- Experience working with Household Panel data (Numerator, Nielsen Panel, etc.)
- JDA or other space planning experience
- Experience working in consumer product goods
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $97,000.00 - $137,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
