Job Summary

The FP&R Team Leader has overall responsibility for driving the FP&R program site-wide within the Richmond Plant. The person in this role will facilitate and coordinate the rollout and implementation of Factory Performance & Reliability Standards and will work closely with the Leadership team and key business unit resources and team members.


  • Leading site-wide implementation of the Factory Performance & Reliability Standards;

  • Participation in Factory Performance & Reliability audits;

  • Analyze current process streams across the functions within Richmond  (including work methods, inventory, etc.) and identify opportunities for improvement;

  • Ensure that streamline manufacturing principle (such as facility operational strategy, shop floor data) are effectively implemented and maintained; 

  • Report status and results of continuous improvement projects to management and employees


Principal Duties and Responsibilities





  • Monitor and report weekly KPI’s as well as prepare reports for the end of the month: Quality Pays Report, AU report, CTI report, KPI report


  • Streamline productivity by applying continuous improvement tools such as changeover reduction, TPM and Visual Factory 


  • Utilizing the input of the leadership team and operations personnel, develop a CI strategy and implementation plan


  • Design and manage continuous improvement projects;


  • Review Project Hopper on a quarterly basis with the leadership team to check progress on CI activities to gauge effectiveness 


  • Develop a mechanism for driving and tracking improvements.


  • Lead, guide, facilitate, and work with plant task forces, production/maintenance team members, vendors, etc. to implement and resolve identified and prioritized CI improvement projects.


  • Manage and coordinate regrind inventory to help facilitate use and disposal


  • Manages the FP&R budget


  • Act as a resource for training plant personnel regarding FP&R standards.


  • Understand and comply with Hill’s policies, safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety. Identify and report Food Safety issues to management.




Education/ Experience Requirements


Basic qualifications include:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or related field

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience

  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Excel and Google Suite Applications 

  • Understanding of the plant equipment and equipment controls in manufacturing areas 

  • Meet business needs by flexing scheduled work hours or contributing additional work hours when needed


Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with SAP, OPERA, Tableau and/or DOMO, Google Visual Data Studio, SWIS

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Experience with AU modeling

  • Able to sit, type, and use a computer keyboard 2-8 hours per day

  • Able to stand and walk 4-8 hours per day

  • Able to climb stairs/ladder and use forklift 1-4 hours per day as needed

  • Able to perceive visual and audible alarms, receive and transmit radio communication, and wear required personal protective equipment while performing duties in the production areas
