Quality Technician - Chemist

2nd Shift

 

Are you a precise and driven scientist looking to ensure the highest standards of pet nutrition? As a Quality Chemist, you will be vital in affirming the production of nutritionally superior pet food through advanced physical and analytical testing of materials and finished products. You will own the efficiency of quality systems in our Bowling Green facility, ensuring every product that leaves our doors helps build a future to smile about. Responsibilities

  • Execute Analytical Testing: You will perform routine physical and chemical analysis on raw materials and finished products, including moisture, fat, protein, and mineral testing, to ensure compliance with global laboratory standards.
  • Manage Laboratory Integrity: You will be responsible for the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sophisticated laboratory instrumentation and quality systems to ensure data accuracy and operational uptime.
  • Drive Quality Compliance: You will lead internal and external audits of Quality Systems, executing corrective action planning (CAPA) and remediation to maintain food safety and regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate Continuous Improvement: You will identify opportunities for efficiency in micro and quality issues, using data to support audit requests and providing analytical results for new product projects.
  • Train and Collaborate: You will conduct technical training for plant personnel on laboratory procedures and safety protocols, fostering a culture of quality across the entire supply chain.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Food Science or related field. OR Bachelor's degree with 3+ years' experience in analytical laboratory in food, consumer product or pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts and/or weekends, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work from heights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical or wet chemistry laboratory.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and procedures.
  • Computer skills including email, spreadsheets, presentations and database management.
  • Good technical, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills including troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
  • Knowledge of analytical method validation, data integrity and statistical analysis.
  • Previous experience using LC, MS and/or tandem LC-MS or LC-MS/MS systems.


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $52,800.00 - $72,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
