Work Location: This role is based in both Tonganoxie and Topeka, Kansas. The selected candidate must have the flexibility to travel to both facilities as required by business needs. 

 

Role Summary

Hill’s Pet Nutrition is actively seeking a Production Planning Lead to become a leader within our planning community. This pivotal role is designed for a leader who will orchestrate the intricate balance of production planning by overseeing a team of Plant Material Planners at our Tonganoxie and Topeka Manufacturing sites.  Reporting to the Manager, Production Planning, you will be the driving force behind the development of production planning and material management strategies and timelines that are in harmony with our commitment to delivering flawless execution.  Your expertise will be instrumental in streamlining our supply chain, from scheduling to inventory management, guaranteeing that deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the plant planning team by overseeing material planning and detailed production scheduling, while ensuring all team members adopt standardized processes and leverage advanced planning systems to drive effective plans.

  • Drive site productivity and strategic efficiency by developing production strategies that optimize manufacturing assets and establish long-term capacities through rough cut capacity planning.

  • Own performance management and continuous improvement by conducting regular meetings to address production exceptions with internal stakeholders and performing thorough root cause analysis of discrepancies to align on manufacturing needs.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration by partnering with Operations, Quality, and New Product Commercialization teams to support product launches, formula commissioning, and global expansion strategies.

  • Champion operational excellence and compliance by upholding EOHS, Quality, and FP&R standards while managing inventory health, including the oversight of obsolete inventory accruals and write-offs.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in supply chain planning, with a specific focus on production planning and material management

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in Operations or Planning teams with a proven track record of success

  • Technical proficiency in Advanced Planning Solutions such as SAP APO, Kinaxis, or Planet Together

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of core planning master data and their interdependencies 

  • Outstanding communication abilities, with ability to prepare and present compelling business and technical summaries

  • Strategic functional competencies, including the ability to develop complex data-driven scenarios, influence stakeholders to reach consensus, and maintain operational agility in fast-paced environments

  • Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in Supply Chain Management or a related field

  • Professional certification such as Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or related fields

  • Industry expertise within consumer goods manufacturing (CPG)


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $107,500.00 - $137,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
