Job Summary

  • Responsible for achieving budgeted volume and net sales for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Hill’s sells directly to customers in the Market. 

  • Manage wholesaler business operations within specified markets by implementing strategic orientation and organising appropriate level of resources to achieve short and long term sales and profit objectives

  • Effectively build and manage mutually beneficial on the ground relationships 

  • Supervises Customer Development (Field incl AM, eCom), Marketing and PCV (14 people)

  • Responsible for the Operations of Hills in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Responsible for the P&L and the implementation of the commercial Strategy.

  • Work closely with CDT to implement promotional grid and facilitate its flawless implementation 

  • Provide appropriate Sales and / or facilitate cross-functional training to the Team. 

  • Educate the Team on Hill’s Commercial Selling Principles. 

  • Facilitate “best in class” execution on the ground

  • Control and Manage Commercial Investments to maximize Return On Investment 

  • Manage the Customer Development Team (CDT)

  • Own the 5P in the territory, train the Sales Team on Hill’s 6P standards and ensure Team have all materials they need to implement flawlessly in stores and clinics

  • Interact with customers to facilitate the development and implement annual business plans based on local opportunities and Hill’s strategies and goals. This includes identifying relevant opportunities and insights, and recommending appropriate Customer Development strategies. 

  • Set specific KPI’s with Wholesalers/Stores/Clinics and review the status of these KPIs on a regular basis. 

  • Identify and recommend corrective actions when KPIs are not being met. Provide consolidated feedback and ensure on-the-ground follow-ups.

  • Conduct and manage: Distribution (Product and Outlet) tracking, market insights, shelf and space management programs to optimize Hill’s presence in Stores/Clinics

  • Understand the Pet Specialty RE to lead the development of annual commercial plans for large format pet retail accounts the goals of SOM growth in the market.

  • Identify key influencers and customers to facilitate appropriate communication flow. 

  • Gain direct contact to key customers and influencers to achieve increased growth and share among retailers and clinics. 

  • Work with KOLs in the country and with the veterinary profession, to develop programs that will help increase recommendation for Hill’s.

  • Act as a liaison between Czech / Slovakia team and other functions in CEEME Team and the Prague Support office, to ensure integrated execution of local plans.

  • Engage with the Financial Team to track P&L performance of the business and at Brand / customer level.

  • Work closely with the Customer Services & Logistics Team to develop accurate forecasts and follow up on market / customer trends to fine tune as necessary.

Education/ Experience Requirements

Basic qualifications include:  

  • Strong Sales / commercial background mandatory

  • Knowledge of local markets and understanding 

  • Successful wholesaler/direct trade management experience

  • Very good negotiation Skills

  • Fluent in English/ Czech (written and spoken)

  • Education: University degree

  • Minimum of 8 years commercial experience within FMCG

  • Experience in managing teams
