Job Summary
The Category Development Manager is responsible for championing the Category Development approach within the organization, and applying it externally, by working collaboratively with customers. She/ he needs to ensure alignment and execution against the category & brand strategies, by coordinating catman process with customers and providing the tools required to define and deploy the 5Ps and shopper solutions for the category. Category Manager plays an integral role in enhancing demand through Colgate's customers, in a cost-effective way, with innovative solutions. She/ he should collaborate cross-functionally and support management,  retail marketing, customer development and sales field force to identify business opportunities for category value creation. 

 

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Create mid and long term strategies for the development of CP categories in retail environment. Provide business analysis (e.g.SOM, 5Ps, SOS & SOA, market insights).
  • Deliver Category Development Services to our customers (one-way & priority two-way). Provide our customers with relevant trade stories with the goal to increase the value of the category
  • Deploy internally and externally both regular category updates of the plans based on trends, opportunities and competitive benchmarking  as well as category knowledge (e.g. e-guidebook, insights studies, external providers market data and add local insights)
  • Manage the 5Ps strategy at category level, with focus on Planogram recommendation at store format level, SOS & SOA by-annual projects, with clear and actionable next steps at retailer level, pricing- analysis, annual mandated assortment analysis
  • Participate in Customer Engagement Day Meetings and manage all the follow up sessions for the agreed next steps
  • Manage the relationship with 3rd party data providers (NIQ, IQVIA, Medor, Gfk, Focus, Markant) and ensure the data received is relevant to the business needs 
  • Responsible for the implementation of ecom Catman projects in collaboration with e-commerce retailers in cooperation with CD ecom team  . 

 

Range of Qualifications

Level of Education: University degree
Years of Experience (range): 3-4  years
Functional Experience and Technical Skills: 

  • Analytical experience to conduct environmental scan, deep category assessment and identify category opportunities.
  • Business knowledge and understanding on category and brand strategies to serve as input for the  Category Development process
  • Proven ability to conduct customers presentations and business reviews
  • Able to build good relationship w/ Retail Mkt, CDT and customers to implement the RCD solutions recommendation 
  • Able to prioritize customers in alignment with RM team leader and CDT to provide Catman services
  • Experience with relevant software (NIQ Discover, Spaceman), advanced Excel/Google sheet user
