The GTeD center Micro Lab Research Scientist is responsible for performing microbiological testing in support of the site Microbiological Control programs that ensure all product development meets internal requirements, as well as generating partnership with R&D.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performs microbiological testing in accordance with standard procedures
- Perform microbiological method validations
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date and concise laboratory records
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, calibrations, and IQOQPQ
- Participates in the microbiology laboratory standardization program including QA and QC, SOP revision program, media preparation, ordering supplies, supporting general laboratory compliance
- Support environmental monitoring program, including samples/testing of water, air and surfaces
- Complete failure investigations and properly document out of specification results
- Support for Global Category partnerships to ensure the Microbiological Approval Process is maintained
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of the Global Microbiology and Global Quality programs
- Support Global Microbiology database management and upgrades
- Trains and verifies microbiology procedures for temporary and co-op employees
- Assist temporary employees with daily tasks when needed
- Supports and conducts laboratory training for microbiologists globally
- Support GMP activities/validations on pilot plant scale up, as needed
- Support the implementation of rapid technology in a GMP environment
- Additional tasks, as needed
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related field required

Minimum 2-3 years functional experience in laboratory required

Master’s degree preferred

Demonstrates a strong understanding of microbiological testing procedures and laboratory processes

Ability to analyze data

Initiates and maintains effective and mutually supportive relationships with internal and external colleagues

Practices continuous improvement in all aspects of his/her job

Communicates clearly, concisely & effectively through written and oral means

Demonstrates the ability to apply continuous improvement tools to affect positive change (MSI, CPM, etc.)

Experience with common microbiology lab instrumentation is a requirement, especially with autoclaves, air samplers, light microscope, biohazard cabinets and water purification system.

Computer skills including Google Suite or MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.

Working knowledge and practical experience with good manufacturing practices in a microbiology lab environment.
