In today's dynamic environment, it is an exciting time to be a part of the research and technology team at Colgate. Our highly technical and innovative team is dedicated to driving growth for Colgate Palmolive in this ever-changing landscape. What role will you play as a member of the Colgate's Research & Development team? As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing solutions to alter the composition of oral biofilms and tie those changes to measurable health benefits both in the mouth and beyond.

 

What you will do 

  • Develop novel molecular biologic and bioinformatic methods and models to study oral biofilm development.
  • Execute standard laboratory protocols to identify performance of product formulations on biofilms and host tissues.
  • Modify and perform laboratory investigations to understand the effect of compounds on the quality and composition of oral biofilms and understand the impact of changes on oral and systemic health.
  • Develop and conduct laboratory, in situ and in vivo experiments to understand changes and development of gene expression and metabolism in oral biofilms.
  • Document experiments for communication and claims support as needed by the business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
     

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Microbial Physiology, Molecular Biology, Biology.
  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of laboratory microbiology, mixed community biofilms, molecular biology, cell biology and “omics” technologies.
  • Results-oriented and able to effectively generate, analyze, document and interpret data to drive research direction and meet project goals.
  • Good project management skills, including the ability to simultaneously manage multiple project activities, milestones and timelines.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written/verbal).
  • Planning/Priority Setting.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Microbiology, Microbial Physiology, Molecular Biology, Biology.
  • Experience with bioinformatics and data analytics.
  • Experience working with genomic and transcriptomic sequencing data.
