We are excited to invite applications to join our Hill's Digital group as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) supporting Hill's Pet Nutrition initiatives! We are looking for a highly organized and energetic individual to be part of the team by expanding, building and supporting both new and existing technology.  

The Release Train Engineer's (RTE) primary purpose is to lead and coordinate an Agile Release Train (ART) in adopting Agile and continuous delivery practices in a large, complex environment.   This includes facilitating ART ceremonies, coaching the ART on Agile best practices, tracking and mitigating risk, and leading continuous improvement efforts.

You will responsible for bringing together multiple key players across complex solutions and programs in order to meet delivery commitments and excel at growth opportunities. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable developing and managing a plan, executing against tasks that are occasionally ambiguous, works independently to solve problems and proactively seeks to bring together teams and information to align to a common solution and timeline.
 

What you'll do

• Leading and coordinating delivery across multiple agile teams aligned to a common delivery cadence
• Facilitate and lead the Agile Release Train (ART) process, including planning, synchronization, and execution of release deliverables
• Identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and impediments that may impact the release train's progress
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback, promoting agile best practices, and driving process enhancements
• Monitor and report on the progress of the release train, ensuring transparency and accountability
• Participate in PI planning readiness - preparation of vision and backlogs via pre & post plan
• Ensure PI Planning readiness for the ART
• Facilitate PI Planning (for their ART) in conjunction with the Solution Train
• Aggregate team PI objectives into Program PI objectives and creates transparency into progress. 
•  Escalate impediments and risks that may contribute to delays or missed delivery of commitments
• Report on progress against milestones and supports activities related to Program Portfolio Management and Release Management
• Drive continuous improvement for the ART via coaching and facilitation of Inspect and Adapt ceremonies. 
• Create alignment across stakeholders on priorities and direction for the ART
• In collaboration with the Product Managers, ensures the solution train has a healthy backlog and review demand versus capacity
• Consults with Product Managers, Product Owners, and other collaborators to ensure execution is aligned with product strategy

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering or similar
• 3+ years Scaled digital implementation experience leading high performing teams in Agile/Scrum/SAFe construct 
• Certified SAFe RTE, preferably with experience of leading a Solution Train/ART
• Experience with Lean Portfolio Management procedures and ceremonies up to the Portfolio level
• Proven track record to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; proactively resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
• Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
• Effective leadership, analytical skills, and negotiation skills
• Strong organization and project management skills and self-motivation
• Clear, concise, and user-friendly communication skills to easily transmit your ideas to any audience
• Ability to work on numerous assignments at one time with demonstrated follow-through, attention to detail and commitment to business partnership
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or equivalent
• Strong understanding of SAFe framework and its application in portfolio management
• Knowledge of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence and Trello)
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to identify and address portfolio level issues
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change
• Passion for continuous improvement and driving innovation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

Salary Range $100,000 - $147,000 USD

Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
