Colgate-Palmolive is seeking a highly motivated scientist with a track record of excellence for a Principal Scientist in Global R&D, Personal Care Research & Innovation group, based in Piscataway, NJ location.

 

  • Identify and develop new skin care opportunities using strong research fundamentals
  • Evaluate biofunctional actives for skin care and cleansing products
  • Develop and implement predictive non-invasive skin methods to assess and document performance of benefits, specifically with experience related to skin lipids and signaling lipids on skin health
  • Develop methods to screen and validate technologies, incorporating the latest understanding of physical/mechanical aspects of aging within the broader context of relevant biological function
  • Work closely with external partners in academia/start-ups/industry to rapidly develop new innovation

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Management and execution of cellular and molecular laboratory assessment of biofunctional active ingredients and final products including competitive benchmarking
  • Development and Implementation of pre-clinical dermatological methods (for example: ex-vivo) for proof of concept testing of laboratory leads
  • Develop research plans and independently execute project.
  • Identify new technology opportunities for Colgate-Palmolive within area of expertise.
  • Communicate results of research, both internally as well as via external publications and patent
  • Develop research plans and independently execute projects
  • Identify and lead collaboration effort with external partners/suppliers
  • Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals
  • Manage requirements involving legal agreements, IP, regulatory, safety and quality

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Cell biology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry or related field
  • Experience with primary skin cell culture, skin equivalents and skin explants
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience (personal care)
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong project management and execution skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with skin lipids
  • Bioinformatics, lipidomics or data analytics experience 

Salary Range $112,000 - $164,850 USD
