Position Summary:
Colgate-Palmolive invites applications to the position of a postdoctoral Research Scientist based at our Piscataway, NJ location.
This is a two-year postdoctoral position. As part of the host modulation group the applicant will lead efforts in understanding how host tissues differentiate, heal and protect against physical and chemical challenges. The individual will evaluate biofunctional actives and formulations in inflammation pathways and wound healing in vitro models, as well as the development and implementation of formulations to assess performance of benefits in oral health. The position will include development and implementation of in vitro models and interactions of host and bacteria.
Responsibilities:

Optimize novel in vitro models, assays, and discovery work using ex vivo human cells, 3D cell model, primary cells, and extraction of human tissue cells

Develop and implement novel visualization techniques to demonstrate efficacy of actives and formulations

Collect, analyze, and report high quality data in a timely manner

Design and deliver in vitro and ex vivo scientific discovery programs related to oral care and potential therapeutic interventions

Drive the discovery and characterization of new bioactive ingredients or formulated products, and identify new biological targets/mechanisms of action for oral care benefits

Manage daily laboratory operations support relevant research projects

Manage internal and external collaborations
Basic Qualifications:
-
Ph.D. in the field of Cell biology, Molecular biology, Immunology or related field

Hands on experience with sterile cell culture and primary cells, as well as human/animal tissues

Hands on experience with different histological methodologies, such as immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence
-
Strong problem solving skills, project management and execution skills
-
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Strong cell biology experience in tissue culture techniques isolation and culture of primary cells and the use of co-culture systems. Experience in stem cell culture and differentiation

Excellent skills in cellular and molecular biology techniques (quantitative PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunostaining, fluorescent imaging and confocal microscope)

Hands on experience in the development of in vitro disease model and pre-clinical evaluation of bioactives using human cells/tissues

Salary Range $77,120 - $88,000 USD
Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
