 Colgate-Palmolive invites applications to a postdoctoral research Scientist (PDRS) position located in Piscataway, NJ. This is a two (2) year fixed term of at-will employment.

 

The key responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Apply holistic design of the delivery systems to increase efficacy and effectiveness of actives via synergistic ingredient interactions
  • Identify the impacts of the delivery systems on key consumer touch-points such as at point of purchase, in-use experience, after-use experience, and long lasting benefits. Recommend options with holistic formulation design & understanding to stabilize and enhance the efficacy of actives
  • Execute experiments to build fundamental understanding on how ingredient interactions (such as surfactants, structants/polymers, particulates, polyphosphate salts, & others) impact on the delivery and product stability. Provide guidance on product development and advance project objectives
  • The initial targeted system of interest is to focus on investigating the controlled bioglass (polyphosphate) crystallization & growth behavior in a designed complex matrix. Conduct experiments to build fundamental understandings on how bioglass crystallizes with controlled speed and sizes and how bioglass crystals will interact with enamels.
  • Working closely with other research & innovation as well as product development teams, the PDRS will identify and utilize a wide range of techniques to evaluate the efficacy and stability of formulated products and to investigate the underline delivery mechanisms
  • Interpret and communicate complex experimental & theoretical results to both technical and non-technical business partners effectively
  • The PDRS will also have the opportunity to present technical findings to internal R&D community & management teams, to present in external conferences, and to document findings in internal technical reports and/or external publications.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in colloid, bio-inorganics, biophysical chemistry and other related interdisciplinary fields.
  • Highly knowledgeable and experienced with biomaterial behaviors and active delivery systems in complex matrices on organic substrates such as skin & dentin surface
  • Have deep fundamental understanding and extensive hands-on experience on characterization techniques such as x-ray crystallography, surface characterization, microscopy techniques, UV-vis & IR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, light scattering and others
  • Be able to initiate, think independently, and work effectively in a dynamic & cross functional working environment. Lead and coordinate joint projects with industry and academic partners
  • Be a self-motivated & passionate scientist who works well in a team environment with other scientists and engineers holding a variety of different backgrounds, skills, and experiences.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Be able to communicate complex technical results effectively to technical and non-technical personnel in oral presentations and writing documentations.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferably have experience and knowledge on skin/oral tissue absorption & penetration research and related fields.

Knowledge on surfactants, biomaterials, and crystallization a plus 

Salary Range $88,000 USD
