Manager Global Transportation

 

The Manager Global Transportation is responsible for managing global transportation processes and systems.  Manages the cost and service performance of all freight forwarders and major international service providers.  Monitors and acts on global activities and risks that could impact global sourcing or transportation networks.  Directs or supports major global or regional transportation initiatives, serves as transportation Center of Expertise.  Communicates and provides global transportation updates and KPI’s to Divisional Leadership.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develops and implements strategies and processes to ensure operational and service effectiveness of global transportation providers. 
  • Collaborates with Logistics procurement and major logistics stakeholders on executing global transportation bids and tenders; Ocean, Air, Small Parcel, and Rail.  Ensures Freight Forwarders and carrier cost compliance with contracts and routing guides.
  • Implements Fuel surcharge strategies and manage the implementation of quarterly fuel adjustments.  Monitors and reports actual spend and maintains KPI’s. 
  • Develops annual and mid-year ocean transportation cost estimates by trade lanes, region and divisions.
  • Collaborates with Divisions, Hubs and procurement on US domestic truck and Intermodal strategies and bids.     
  • CTPAT--Maintains procedures and policies to ensure compliance according to regulations.
  • Engages key CS&L stakeholders to deliver global Funding the Growth goals and objectives. Identifies “Best in Class” FTG projects and communicates to Divisional/Hub Leadership.
  • Collaborates with Legal Teams and Logistics Procurement to develop standard contract terms and conditions. 
  • Responsible for identifying Global programs and initiatives to reduce Transportation Carbon Footprints.  Accountable for ensuring global consistent and timely reporting of Divisional CO2 reporting.    
  • Monitors global communications regarding risks and potential service disruptions.  Recommend contingency sourcing options and implement if necessary.
  • Participates in regional and Global Network design projects as required.
  • Establishes and maintains Global Transportation COE. 
  • Recommends and implements Global Transportation and Logistics KPI’s
  • Conducts regional and global service and costs benchmarking.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At leasst 5-9 years in Supply chain, Transportation, Logistics or related CS&L positions 
  • Previous experience in data analytics.  
  • Strategic Procurement
  • Effective Communication at all levels
  • Optimizes cost, service and speed-to-market through collaborative planning and communication with internal and external partners
  • Demonstrates the ability to make the right tradeoffs between achieving short-term objectives and long-term goals. Understands business objectives
