We are looking for a motivated and experienced Controls Technician to apply their technical expertise to support and maintain the electrical and control systems for Colgate-Plamolive’s Process Technology Center in Piscataway and our Burlington manufacturing site. The preferred candidate will maintain, troubleshoot, and program plant automation equipment, such as instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, electrical circuits, and human machine interface software. The successful candidate will also provide support for continuous improvement and capital projects.
The Controls Technician will work within an environment that requires collaboration with team members from other departments and supports functions such as Research & Development, Manufacturing, Operations, Information Technology, Quality, and Engineering.
Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot and program Rockwell Automation Programmable Logic Controllers

Maintain and troubleshoot plant floor electrical and instrumentation components including: valves, flow meters, load cells, Variable Frequency Drives, etc.

Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of Windows Server operating system such as Security patching and other limited updates

Document changes made to software and hardware configurations (electrical and process and instrumentation prints)

Understand the flow of data into and out of the control systems including some use of SQL data reporting or related tools

Be accountable for meeting or exceeding safety and quality standards in your work according to the published company policies
Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma
-
5 years of plant technical experience OR 3 years of experience plus a 2-year technical degree

Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and program Programmable Logic Controllers using ladder logic programming

Ability to read and use electrical schematics and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)

Knowledge to troubleshoot electrical circuits (3 phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC, 24VAC and 24VDC control circuits)

Experience with Industrial Automation software (SCADA, HMI, Historian, etc.) or an equivalent software

Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a computer utilizing Google Suite applications (Sheets, Docs, etc.) or Microsoft Office equivalent

Ability to access and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows based operating systems
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the AVEVA (Wonderware) software suite (System Platform, InTouch, Batch Management, etc.)

Experience working with Microsoft SQL databases or equivalent

Knowledge of Industrial Network Communication protocols (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus)
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $70,000.00 - $107,500.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
