The Legal Counsel, U.S. Skin Health will be the key lawyer for Colgate-Palmolive Company’s skin health business in the United States. The Legal Counsel will be a part of the management team for CP Skin Health Group in the United States. The Legal Counsel will advise on all operational and executional matters covering marketing, customer development (including e-commerce), commercial contracts and procurement and other supply chain matters.
The Legal Counsel will work closely with legal specialists in Colgate’s Global Legal Organization on specialized legal matters (including marketing, trademark, patent, commercial, litigation, employment, etc.).
The Legal Counsel, U.S. Skin Health will report to the VP, Associate General Counsel - Corporate and Skin Health and will be based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Integral part of the U.S. management team for the CP Skin Health Group, actively advising the team and participating in management meetings, leveraging strong partnerships with commercial leaders in the operations to play a critical role in developing and executing skin health strategies in the U.S.

Customer Development – advise the U.S. organization on various customer development and retail marketing issues, including selective distribution policies, minimum advertised price and other commercial policies, standard commercial terms and conditions of sale, e-commerce, customer agreements and issue resolution, and sales and distribution agreements. Provide advice regarding compliance with competition, antitrust and other fair dealings laws; conduct training on competition law and Colgate’s Commercial Selling Principles;

Commercial Contracts – provide legal support to procurement and commercial teams in the U.S., and Supply Chain, including by reviewing commercial contracts, terms and conditions, etc. Provide support to other Skin Health departments located in the U.S. (e.g. S&T, Division) in their contracting needs with service providers
- Reviewing proposed execution of U.S. Skin Health marketing-related matters, ensuring legal compliance with privacy laws and applicable federal and state advertising and promotion laws, regulations, guidance and decisions, including the National Advertising Division (US) and non-US self-regulatory bodies, and in line with company standards and approaches or terms of use of social media sites and evaluating and identifying risk regarding advertising copy, labels, promotions, IMC, social, digital, etc

Educating other GLO members on Skin Health products and strategies.

Support on Intellectual Property matters, including identifying copyright, patent, and trademark issues and referring them to appropriate specialist(s) for attention and resolution

Perform Global Ethics & Compliance investigations and support the Legal Compliance specialists in NY with the roll-out of any global training or other compliance initiatives

Advise on, and conduct legal review of, corporate communications and responses to media requests (including social media) in the U.S.

Prepare and/ or review drafts of resolutions and minutes of meetings of the shareholders and board of directors of Skin Health and its subsidiaries in the U.S.; ensure compliance with the Subsidiary Action Approval Process.

Provide legal support to human resources for Skin Health, including with respect to termination/voluntary separation, violations of the Code of Conduct, etc, working with HR Legal specialists in NY and Global Ethics & Compliance as required

Managing commercial disputes and marketing challenges arising in the U.S. Leading local aspects of litigation arising on all legal matters in Skin Health, supported by GLO litigation specialists
Education Requirement
- 5+ years of experience in corporate legal environment preferred, but experience in law firm and/or other business environments could be sufficient.
- Preferred education and experience: 5+ years of experience in a corporate legal environment specializing in Marketing Law.
