Role Summary:
As the Packaging Validation Engineer within our Global Packaging team, you will drive the global strategy, creation, and deployment of predictive packaging test methods and quality standards across Colgate's product portfolio. In this high-impact position, you will directly manage the Piscataway Packaging Lab while providing guidance to our worldwide network of package testing facilities. You will lead key packaging initiatives, ensuring our packaging validation frameworks directly support global product innovation, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:

Global Standards & Test Methods: Drive the global strategy, creation, and continuous evolution of test plans and methods to establish centralized rigor, efficiency, and predictive quality across all categories.

Laboratory Operations & Network Leadership: Direct daily operations, capital expenditure budgets, data integrity compliance, and long-term strategic roadmaps for the Piscataway Packaging Lab, while providing technical governance to Colgate's global package testing network.

Quality & Product Safety: Partner closely with Quality and Safety teams to manage Packaging Materials of Concern, Tech Transfer Program, and environmental compliance for chemical/packaging waste.

Validation & Equipment Management: Oversee installation, operation, and performance qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new laboratory equipment, while complying with digital laboratory management systems and change controls.

Capability Building & Audits: Lead internal laboratory audits, verification procedures, and global training programs to ensure standard operating procedure compliance and seamless technology transfer across international teams.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related technical field.

6+ years of experience in Packaging Engineering or related experience.

Hands-on experience in packaging development, validation protocols, and laboratory test method execution.

Demonstrated experience with laboratory equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), data integrity compliance, and standard operating procedures in a regulated environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of packaging engineering experience within a CPG, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical environment.

Technical expertise across diverse materials and technologies, including films, laminates, rigid containers, dispensing systems, printing, cartons, and corrugate systems.

Demonstrated functional competencies in cross-functional collaboration, lab management, project management, capital budgeting, and continuous improvement.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $109,600.00 - $155,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
