The Scientific Communications Specialist is an essential member of the U.S. Professional & Veterinary Affairs (USPVA) team. The veterinarian in this position is responsible for contributing to and executing Key Thought Leader (KTL) strategy that elevates Hill's scientific leadership, resulting in veterinary endorsement and active recommendation of Hill's products. They will build influential peer-to-peer relationships with veterinary specialists, particularly in nutrition and internal medicine, and help to develop future nutrition specialists.

 

They will serve as a scientific and technical expert and speaker for strategic customer events and with Hill's US internal teams.  This position plays an integral role in ensuring veterinary practitioners and specialists have and understand current, relevant information about Hill's products and initiatives, so that Hill's is recognized as a partner of choice among Key Thought Leaders and as a scientific and innovative leader in the veterinary profession.  The individual in this position will have a very influential role as a scientific and subject matter expert, both internally and externally. This is a field role based out of a home office in any US location that is near a major airport hub.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Field/Customer Execution: Represent Hill’s at veterinary conferences and symposia; veterinary medical association meetings; pet, vet and eCommerce customer meetings and town halls.
  • Deliver relevant education that is tied to commercial priorities and promotes active recommendation for and endorsement of Hill’s products in all retail environments.
  • Build relationships and own commercial activation with Key Thought Leaders, engaging them in Hill’s initiatives and first to know activities.
  • Engage and educate veterinary students, cultivating them as future endorsers of Hill’s products.
  • Support Hill’s academic partnerships.
  • Promote active recommendation and endorsement of Hill’s products, growing Hill’s as Brand Recommended Most Often with the profession.
  • Establish Hill’s as a valued and trusted partner. Deliver education at Hill’s customer tours. Provide technical (including advanced case consultation) support to the Veterinary Consultation Service team.
  • Commercial Strategy Support: Partner with US Professional and Veterinary Affairs and Marketing teams to provide technical and educational support for Hill’s products and programs.
  • Assist with review of technical documents. Share relevant customer insights with the Hill’s US commercial team.
  • Support the execution and development of digital education and social media strategy.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Veterinary Medicine
  • 3+ years Clinical Practice (internal medicine or nutrition preferred)
  • Completion of at least one year internship and a minimum of 2 years in residency training and/or clinical practice and eligibility to sit the ACVIM-Nutrition or ACVIM-Small Animal Internal Medicine Board examinations.
  • Licensed Medical Veterinarian in DL NUMBER - Driver License
  • Proficiency with digital tools and platforms
  • Ability to work independently to manage a demanding schedule with irregular hours and to manage necessary travel.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation - both in person and virtual).
  • Ability to simultaneously manage a number projects and deadlines with cross-functional partners

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification in veterinary nutrition or small animal internal medicine and 2+ years experience as a boarded specialist in veterinary nutrition or small animal internal medicine
  • Animal health industry experience

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $91,200.00 - $128,000.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
