EHS Manager

As the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for the safety and health of plant employees, as well as the community and environment. This key player will ensure the plant is in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of safety, health and environmental issues. Ensures compliance with all government and company standards and practices and leads the plant EHS programs
  • Identifies, designs and implements EHS related projects and responsible for ensuring corrective action is taken for all EHS issues
  • Manages facilities sustainability improvements; developing and implementing efforts to reduce carbon, water, and energy footprint, as well as maintaining Zero Waste To Landfill Platinum Certification
  • Conducts EHS training 
  • Manages plant Pandemic Planning and Emergency Preparedness Programs and ensures plan integrity.
  • Manages all internal and external inspections and audits 
  • Promotes continuous improvement within all teams by transferring knowledge that has been acquired through formal and informal training to all Hill’s employees
  • Accountable as the standard owner for EHS processes and programs by meeting or exceeding Colgate, Hill’s and regulatory established EHS standards 
  • Ensure personnel adhere to Hill’s policies, safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices, including Quality Assurance and Food Safety.  Support implementation of Quality Assurance and Food Safety initiatives.
  • Works to standardize best practices.
  • Ensures CI processes support Quality and Safety goals
  • Works with senior leaders to identify and provide the resources and guidance that will ensure implementation of EHS and Quality systems
  • Provides direction for improving safety-, environment-, and quality conscious behavior in factories
  • Leverage analytical tools and business data to improve total performance of the Supply Chain

    Understands the interrelationships of the five supply chain processes: plan, source, make, deliver and product commercialization, with respect to overall performance 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field
  • 5+ years of increasing EHS responsibilities
  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations
  • Proficient in email, presentation building, Google Suite, and spreadsheets 

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified safety or industrial hygiene professional
  • 2+ years food manufacturing experience
  • Understands the technical requirements of Environment, Occupational Health and Safety (EHS), Quality, and Microbiology in factories and research facilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork orientation with excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Demonstrated performance of attention to detail, follow-up, and analytical decision making
  • Proficient knowledge of GMPs, and SPC
  • Supply Chain data and analytical tools proficiency including SAP, Business Warehouse, MRS, PGSS, and Shop Floor Data
  • Proficient in FP&R Guidelines, lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement Plans, and establishing KPI’s and SPI’s
  • Must be able to bend, climb, crawl, work in confined spaces, work in hazardous condition spaces, work in extreme weather conditions, use hazardous materials and ability to work at heights of up to 120 ft., use a mechanical lift, or ladder

 


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $102,400.00 - $130,000.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
